Walking Out is an enchanting and warming story of a son and his estranged father from different backgrounds who meet to have a hunting weekend away which doesn’t quite go to plan.
A cleverly put together film which focuses purely on the relationship of the two main characters, Matt Bomer and Josh Wiggins. It gradually paints a picture of the challenges they have both experienced in their lives, whilst reconnecting with each other through several difficulties and challenges that come their way. Throughout the film we see this relationship grow and the bond between father and son getting stronger through adversity.
While the film was an enjoyable watch, I do feel they missed an emotional connection towards the end in what both could have and should have been some very captivating and emotional scenes. Especially after the structure of the scenes leading up to the end, and the characters’ ability to make it believable and relatable.
Overall, this film won’t provide you with fast action thrills at every turn. But Walking Out will keep you engrossed and give you a sense of satisfaction that you invested the time to give it the go it deserves. A solid 7/10.
