GrownUps is not responsible for the personal, political, organisational or religious beliefs of its members on Social Media.  This is necessary in order for GrownUps to comply with its obligations under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015.

The purpose of this Act is to deter, prevent, and mitigate harm caused to individuals by digital communications; and to provide victims of harmful digital communications with a quick and efficient means of redress. Where the Act applies, GrownUps will have regard to the natural justice provisions, and will follow the take down processes set out in the Act.

    Please note the following…

    • Respect fellow members differences in opinion – be nice to one another, personal attacks and insults are not acceptable.
    • Racist remarks, threatening, vulgar, abusive, derogatory comments and profanity will be removed from the discussion threads.  If you see certain comments fall into this category, please email us via Contact Us.
    • Unsubstantiated and defamatory remarks about people, members, business, moderators and other sensitive topics will be removed. GrownUps seeks to uphold the laws of NZ that apply.
    • Bullying of any nature will not be tolerated, it is against the law and appropriate actions will be taken if necessary.
    • Please notify the moderator via the contact us form if you encounter bullying or notice any unsuitable behaviour within the forum.
    • Using capital letters is the equivalent of yelling in the discussion forum, it’s considered rude and is not correct ‘netiquette’ and is rather hard on the eyes!
    • Trolling will not be tolerated, (this is a person who intentionally inflames the discussions to get other members worked up about a topic). Don’t instigate flame wars.
    • Differences of opinion are part of human nature, however criticism of a discussion point must be directed at the topic not the poster.  ‘Play the ball not the man’, as the saying goes.
    • Try to stay on topic and post your comments in the appropriate discussion threads.
    • Respect the privacy of others. Do not publish the content of personal emails to a public forum.  This includes any emails that are sent to you by the moderator please.
    • Never post your private information, such as email, phone etc on the discussion threads. Please use the private messaging function if you wish to share your details with one another.  GrownUps does not access your Private Messages within the system, unless requested by Law.
    • If it is considered that any discussion thread is causing offense, and has outlived its useful life, it will be removed by the moderator.
    • Breach of these guidelines will result in either a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent deletion, depending on the severity of the offense, as determined by and only by the Moderator.
    • GrownUps reserves the right to delete or edit any comments/posts made on the site by members, without notification.
    • Membership may be terminated as above, at any time, for any reason, without entering into further discussions with you.  This is in adherence with the Terms of use & membership, of GrownUps which can be viewed at anytime, from the footer link on any page of the website.
    • The moderator’s decision is final and no discussions will be entered in to.  There is no obligation for the moderator to inform or communicate with any banned member nor other members enquiring about other banned members.
    • The suspensions or banning of members will not be divulged in the public forum.

Thanks for your support of GrownUps and please note that we will not be entering into further discussion about these rules.

Thanks Richard and Sara, hope it’s clearer for all the members, and we’ll see some of the old names back.

But I do wish people would try to stay “on topic” 😛

Wishing all a Merry Christmas And a Happy New Year.

    from Stoke, Nelson 😛

“Racist remarks, threatening, vulgar, abusive, derogatory comments and profanity will be removed from the discussion threads.”

That should see an end to the trolls next time they step over the mark, something we’ve been asking for for quite some time. Which has to be a plus.

‘The suspensions or banning of members will not be divulged in the public forum.’

That though,I believe to be harsh & unfair.A great pity admin couldn’t see its way clear to notify us when someone cops a banning, why & for how long – & we did make it very clear why we want to be told too,so this is very disappointing.

How does one de-register if they are on a Temporary Deactivation, and can’t log in?

And if they can’t log in how can they be accused of posts put up in a thread?   😎

Good question,GB. I’ve no idea though & it looks as though admin are ignoring any questions or comments on here.
Probably they’ll only answer if its done via their contact us. 🙄 🙄

The only thing I can think of is to do the contact thing & then perhaps post the result in here? Surely they wouldn’t object, since the information will benefit everyone. 😎 😎

How many complaints will be necessary before action is executed. Never met a troll and not even sure if I would feel obliged to complain because of definition. The political threads are controlled by the most abusive posters on the threads, simply because the Govt. in power does not conform to their requirements. Meets my imagined definition of “troll” more than disliking the haka and bare bottomed exhibitions thrust upon unsuspecting visitors and being hongied in lines. Not a very hygenic practice is this age of infectious disease.
