Driving home from Westport with my brother who knows almost every inch of the fishing hunting areas, He stopped at a place where the sea was coming through a narrow gap to the shore.

He told me about the sailing ships which came to grief trying to berth and disembark passengers to save going further. I think it was via Greymouth. A dumb question I know but it keeps jogging the mind.

There was a bay we stopped at on the way.where there was a donations box to pay for the free toilets maintenance. My brother is the only male I know who could detour through tracks and side roads and get a thrill out of seeing something of the real Coast.

I am not sure, keithe. I have a feeling the ships were trying to offload miners there as it was a long way to travel from where the port was. A lot of them died from the violent sea.
