    BEHIND THE EYES
Our eyes never tell what our thoughts hide within
They hold close their secrets through thick and through thin
Like lens in a camera our eyes snap away
Takes pictures of life as it passes our way

Inside the dark rooms of our quiet minds
Exposures process what each capture defines
Events of each day are discarded or kept
New memories created, while others get swept

Often over time our thoughts take a new road
A journey that sometimes brings mind overload
Where thoughts lose themselves in a far away space
Or disappear totally without a trace

Once healthy minds struggle trying hard to recall
Where once there were memories there’s nothing at all
It creates a history that grows as we grow
A collection of thoughts that only we know

What truths cavort naked undressed of all lies?
In secret and hiding behind knowing eyes?

Like really great poetry…or even above average poetry romance is a concept not dulled by age or time…~Wanda~

    CAGED BIRD OF HAPPINESS
I sense that my life has a problem right now
I so want to fix it but just don’t know how

I so want to share it but share it with who?
I might stuff it up but I’ll share it with you

I’m going to a space where I know I belong
To that place where an answer just might come along

And I’ll lay all my thoughts out upon a clean page
And see if the caged bird comes out of his cage

If he doesn’t I think that I’ll know why this is
He’s inside a space where no happiness is

It seems being happy if the truth be told
Is valued above precious diamonds or gold

To be truly happy is exceedingly rare
It’s all about being with people who care

So if there is anyone reading this write
Who just might relate to my miserable plight

Who just may have found a way around this thing
Do you think you could help make my poor caged bird sing?

but romance is a bit of a “once upon a time” word….a lot of relationships do not end “happily ever after”…once the romance has gone…which usually happens when the reality bites…(not for everyone of course – but that must be very rare)..

    BELOVED POET (prompt: melody)
    Immersed in sweetest poetry
    Swathed in a rhythm sublime,
    Captured in its dearest verse,
    I bathed inside your rhyme.

    Caught up in the melody,
    Compelled to hum along,
    Wrapped up in the harmony
    Of your poets’ song.

    Bringing to my quiet need
    Everything my soul desires
    Loving everything I read
    Over couplets filled with fire

    Velvet verses gently bite
    Excites thought with every word
    Driving passion and delight
    Whisperings as yet unheard

    Poetry brought him to me
    Opening doors to the sublime
    Exquisitely through it I “see”
    This beloved poet of mine

Yes of course it does but I think as one gets older we learn to cope by ourselves.. I think we all want that, some one to wine & dine us..

I’ve certainly learnt to be happy in my own skin. You actually don’t need a man to make you happy, you just need to learn to get out there & do things & make yourself happy..

Thats my 10 cents worth anyway . Love your poems Wandakr..

Well i hope it does.  But as we get older i dont think we need romance as much as friendship and companionship. We are  by now stuck in our ways and independent we just need a friend.

susiewake—- i think has got the idea to help us as we age, companionship, and friendship.
I travel lots, the North and South islands, Australia as well.
Most times i travel alone, i go to many remote places by my four wheel drive, i stay in motels.
I recently had a companion travel with me on a trip of a week around Coromandel etc.
I then had three weeks in Australia travelling Sydney to Melbourne return, then Sydney to Broken Hill return with my companion. The trips with my companion were wonderful, memorable trips, the trips on my own are just that, trips. Unfortunately, my companion that i had planned further trips with was killed two weeks ago in a traffic accident.
While i enjoy this wonderful country we live in, and enjoy what it has to offer, there is nothing like having someone sitting alongside in my car chatting about anything and everything, and looking at the wonderful scenery as we drive along.
Friendship–companionship—being good mates–thats what we need as we age.

<p style=”text-align: right;”>Don5 sorry about your friends death, how awful. If you are looking for another travelling companion, I need to get out there and see some more of this country.</p>
