Good god – I’d thought there was some hope of intelligent debate,it seems not.
The fanciful & quite fantastic ideas put forward are little more than another attack on both the PM & the Coalition govt, with no attempt at actual discussion.
I think Dr Who’s description of apoplexy is apt.#1663901gabyoneMemberMember since: November 13, 2008

Intelligent debate seems to have gone by the board Lilith.
And I am saddened that intelligent & factual posters such as Arandar seem to have departed.
It would be great if muck raking about either Govt. or opposition could be outlawed. There is plenty of non factual stuff on internet but that should not be touted as fact.

Intelligent debate only appears intelligent if supports ones point of view
So sadly if ones view is different from a certain poster then sadly that posters point of view is not considered intelligent.#1663917AnonymousMember since:

Obviously the least intelligent posters are those who scream Troll or racist at every opportunity as they are incapable of holding a rational conversation.#1663918doogieMemberMember since: March 27, 2006

Many a sour grapes were cast by left wing protagonists over the last nine years, why are you asking for a truce because the government is of your personal preference.
Opposition is what makes a challange to intent.
Because the All Blacks are the world chapions do you think no other team should lay down a challange?

As part of The 100day Plan commitments at last the government have taken a major step in the mental health Inquiry which can now get underway with our former Health &Disability &former Ombudsman Ron Paterson chairing it.and some qualified people. looking into mental health services and addiction and I am so looking forward to a focus on equity of access to quality services and better outcomes with a clear assessment being made of the current strength and weaknesses of our community response to mental health. With our suicide rate one of the worst and staff morale at an alltime low with many unhappy stories the services are really stretched.

So How will the mental health Inquiry work?
Peoples Republic Of Christchurch#1663961drlivingstone January 23, 2018 at 10:17 pm
So most of the hearings in the Mental Health Inquiry will be heard in public but there might be special circumstances? The Inquiry has subpoena powers because they have heard from some people working in the sector that they feel vulnerable and that speaking the truth might be difficult in terms of their employment. The other members of Inquiry team are Dr Barbara Disley,Sir Mason Durie,Dean Rangihuna, Dr Jemaima Tiatia-Seath and Josiah Tualamali,i. Know any of them?

I found it very moving looking at The Bereaved Whanau Network and The Public Service Association who took 600 pairs of shoes each representing a Kiwi lost in the last year to suicide across New Zealand in the leadup to the election. This mental health Inquiry will listen to real peoples storiesThe success of it will depend on the broad participation of those directly affected by our mental health crisis and suicide

With all due respect Doogie, any new govt (new, rather than returned to office) as this one is,is surely deserving of some time to adjust without the constant attacks the present coalition has had since approximately 5 minutes after the result was known.
It requires some fairness, not usually a difficult concept but apparently completely beyond the capabilities of some.
There’s now an opportunity for a new, more cooperative kind of govt & it would be a great pity if that opportunity was lost because the Nats & their supporters can’t bring themselves to adapt.
