Paulinem, would these 500,00 potential NZers have been our teachers, nurses tradespeople etc. Or would a majority of these been recipients of our already overloaded welfare system? Remember, not all who are reading your post have made meaningful contributions to our society.
But, regardless, I support your comment that they deserve to be and live a life.
Already disturbed, approach with caution.#1704894Hero42MemberMember since: July 18, 2008

I wonder how many more have been deprived of a life by the use of contraception.
Or how many have been deprived of a life by the fickle nature of the fertility cycle and miscarriages many of which occur before a women is sure she is pregnant.
No point to be made just something to ponder.#1704899supergoldMemberMember since: May 9, 2009

Is anyone travelling via Air New Zealand around their Engineers proposed 3 day strike from 21st December to 24th December inclusive?
What a merry-go-round they are causing people who have booked to come to NZ or travelling overseas for Christmas, others travelling within NZ to be with family or friends for Christmas.
Could end up being thousands of disgruntled people if the strike goes ahead. 😡 😡

Air New Zealand is not even in the top 10 best airlines of 2018.
My preference is Emirates ,Singapore ,and Lufthansa. My last Air NZ flight was so bad that people were complaining about attitudes and food,.#1704944huiatahiMemberMember since: March 22, 2017

“In the heat of the moment no consideration was given to precautions. We just went for it. Fortunately there were no negative outcomes, but more from good luck than good management.”
Indeed Halycon education on contraception is all well & good but we’re human & tend to sometimes get caught up in the moment.
“Unfortunately the time will come when there will need to be a mandated limit on family size. And yes, this can happen in a manner that is fair to both male and female so neither is disadvantaged.”
I wish I shared your confidence that that could happen. Again, human nature is likely to make it otherwise.
Paulinem,we have very different views on abortion & I’m not discussing it with you again – suffice to say that you never have to have one.
For anyone who hasn’t heard – the possible strike is off.#1704958farmer008MemberMember since: August 10, 2012

Often wonder what becomes of the aborted spirit, That is if the thought process is a spirit. Is their anger at being denied the right to live irrespective of the length of that life, or does that spirit retreat in anger to wherever it originated and thus through powers unknown to us create havoc with our weather and inspire all murders and mayhem that inflicts human kind.
Just a thought,#1704959AnonymousMember since:

It never ceases to amaze me why admin decides some posts are offensive and others, especially those with racist overtones are allowed to stay. It does not say a lot for the administrators judgement.

Apparently hundreds have of passengers made alternative flight arrangements just on the basis of the strike threat. Have to wonder if there’ll be any compensation made as it seems you can’t make an insurance claim for strike action.
If we, or family book an overseas flight, we take out comprehensive insurance the same day as paying for the tickets.
