The very first thing that came to my (feeble) mind when I saw that photo was that we haven’t changed much over the years! Today people cross the road reading their txt messages in their cell phones back “THEN” they were reading their News Papers 😯 😯 😯

😉 Would agree with you there Bryan.
Wow, don’t you love the hairdo’s Kai. Used to take forever with backcombing to get that height, lol. The blond girls style in particular would have taken ages & ages & ages to produce!!

All this nostalgia has proven to me that I am truly old. I remember nearly all those N.Z. Icons. What was the name of the morning radio serial we were all glued to. Ha, just come to me. Dr. Paul. As a child it was Air Adventures of Jimmy Allen at six p.m. Dad was obliging even though that was news time. I do believe that the most popular. Was Sunday radio requests. Hop along Cassidy was on dads list for shooting. Remembering Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth with We’ll Gather Lilacs In The Spring Again and Paul Robeson on Old Man River. Not until the war did I hear the crooners in voice.

I didn’t notice that Bryan!  Not so feeble minded after all  ha ha  I would fall flat on my face trying to do that.

Loyal, did anyone in your connections go to bed with hairdo wrapped in toilet paper to keep it in place while sleeping?  That’s what many would do especially if they had paid big money to have a hairdresser do that style, and the paper trick did work.

We loved the Sunday requests too Joybel. Sitting around in the living room at night waiting for our weekly serials to come on, knitting etc while we listened, that was so nice! Even nicer in the winter with the roaring open fire on the go.  Was dad and Dave one of the serials. My memory is not good for names.

That is such a neat scene to me Kai. It’s homely and I think the b/w photos take us way back as well. I think, as children way back then, we were more innocent seeming and far less precocious.  (not saying that we did no wrong of course).   🙂

Hi Loyal (Welcome back 😎 ,, Bryan, Joybel, Val Bobbity and all who commented on the last coupla posts

Sure is nostalgia there I saw the girls reading the newspaper crossing the road biut it was the BLONDE hairdo which I loved then, and still do now loland I was one who got my hair combedup after work on Fridays and had to sleep with the dreaded TP round it so it stayed in for the dances on Fri and Sat night lol

Yep Bobbity that is a warm fuzzy feeling the scene of the wee ones at school drop offs..

Just got this off a Dunedin site, 1 newer pram, among all the canies, and no probs to the driver and offsider ,,,,,, and couldn’t resist posting it on here

    Enjoy,, Back later…

    Cheers From Kai

OMGoodness Kai!  All those old style prams. Later when I had to use buses I hated the pram/pushchair  part of loading my kids on the bus. Some of the drivers were very helpful though, as well as patient. Getting the pram off at the end of the run was the other part I hated.  later on again, in mod’ times, the drivers are not allowed to get off the bus to help, for safety reasons.

The BIG one I remember was the whole family listening to the “Day of the Triffids”! AND look out if you dared to cough! Or even breathed too loudly. 😎 😎 😎

I saw that movie Bryan, laughed all the way through it. But walking home afterwards from the bus stop at night, was a different story, as the bushes moved in the breeze.  😉
