Yesterday I had a moment of absolute brilliant clarity. It was one of those moments of life changing insights. A brief glimpse into the translucent world of crystallised thought.

I was sitting with my friend John who is probably one of the more significant thought leaders I have the pleasure of working with, and it came to me........no matter how brilliant and community focused your life mission is, no matter how fulfilling and rewarding your dream may be.......IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN ECONOMIC ENGINE TO DRIVE IT......it's only a fantasy!!!!

I can't even begin to describe the feeling when I realised that no matter how good my intentions were, my mission and dream - let's call them my passion - were in grave jeopardy of being strangled into nothing without a robust and sustainable economic engine to drive them.

I wonder how many of you are in the same boat? You have a life mission and a dream that is inspiring but you seem to be gong in circles? Struggling to break free from the merry-go-round called survival?

Well, stay with me for a moment and I will help you do something about it.

What are you deeply passionate about?

I am deeply passionate about helping men and women, primarily between the age of 35 and 55 unlock a meaningful and fulfilling mission and dream for their life and then inspiring them to pursue it and be transformed as a result of it.

Waking up everyday and doing this spins my wheels!

I’m not talking about some little feel good fantasy – I’m talking about something that is the desire of my heart. I wake up everyday driven by the desire to help people unlock the dream they hold deep inside them and then do something about it.

In fact, I’ve been so driven, so enthused, so focused on waking up and doing this everyday that I’ve have helped people when it has been to my detriment – and by that I mean my own family has gone without so someone else could be unlocked, inspired and transformed.

You see, the lack of an economic engine to drive my passion has been slowing me down. My keen desire to help people has taken me into the highways with the misguided understanding that I was actually doing that - helping people. I have lacked the engine to drive my passion with impact and significance.

Yesterday my eyes were opened.

Yesterday I saw the light!

Yesterday it finally hit home……a dream without an economic engine is only a fantasy.

So, here's the model: Meaningful Life Mission + Inspiring Dream + Economic Engine = Pathway to Success.

Here’s the message today:

You can be passionate and fired up with the most amazing and meaningful life mission and inspiring dream but without a vehicle to drive the economics of your mission and dream you will simply run out of energy and your passion will die.

Without the economic engine you will become a lonely voice mouthing empty words. I know what I am talking about. The best intentions can only go so far without an economic engine to drive them.

Passion alone is not enough. The bible says that 'zeal without wisdom is like a runaway horse'. The same goes for passion without an economic engine.

Here’s the bottom-line of my blog posting today, and you can expect to hear more from me on this subject as the days go by……your dream must have legs or it will die!
