Play Time

Even though couples may have been together for what feels like an age, that’s no excuse to endure a dull or even non-existent sex life. Couples in their mid fifties and upwards can experience a revitalisation of their sex life, according to the co-founder of D-Vice sex stores, Wendy Lee.

And nobody’s too old for  play time - sex toys or designer sex gear, developed to put fun back into the bedroom. “There’s something for everyone and playmates aren’t essential,” says Lee. “In the past five years, there have been amazing advances in the design, quality and sensations that sex toys create. They’re more user friendly, made from superior materials, some vibrators are now powered by mini-computerised motors, and they’re very quiet.”

The We-Vibe Couples Vibrator is a case in point and has been attributed to transforming sex lives all over the world. It was developed by a Canadian couple in their 50s who wanted to create the best sex toy in the world and Lee says it looks as though they’ve achieved just that.

While it seems nowhere is safe from the recession, that’s not necessarily a bad thing in the bedroom.  “Customers are buying less but they’re looking for quality,” says Lee. “Instead of making frivolous purchases, they might save up and purchase a couple of really sophisticated products that give more of an experience and enhance the relationship at the same time.”  - Jesma Magill

by Triffid 1st September 2011 Just reading this article made me want to ask a question. Recently my Mum passed away and I remember her having problems disposing of my Dads "Toys"I did it for her. Because of this I made sure I was the one to empty her areas that were private and it led me to thinking "Do we have to throw away our toys in case our children find them or we pass away overnight or do wee get a buzz out of life to the very end?
