Janda, your spuds sound A-one
They must be delicious when done
Laid there in a dish
With a nice piece of fish
A meal that is second to none.

My favouritest spud of the lot
Is Desiree, grown in our plot ...
They were two a penny
But now hardly any
Do make their way into my pot !!
We've got lots of hybrids and crosses
All dusted with chemical drosses
To stop them from seeding
Or families feeding ...
It's the people who're suffering the losses !!!

Yep, broccoli would be just great
Or cauli, cabbage on my plate
Any veg would do
A bit of meat too
But cooking needs to be first rate.
They need to have a bit of crunch
More texture to enjoy the munch
Veg that are soggy
Are fit for the doggy
Please!! tasty morsels for my lunch.

There's nothing worse when buying spuds
Than to find in the bag there are duds
You have to throw out
Those that started to sprout
And wash the ones covered in muds!

I'm all for broccoli and brussels
And caulis and spinach (for muscles?)
A serving of leek
Would nourish the weak
They're all cooked without too many tussles!

If your spuds are a-sprout when you get 'em
You will know they are pure when you've et 'em!!
You can hopefully grow
In a lovely, neat row
New spuds to feed you - if you let 'em !!
And talking of brassica greens
I love them all - have, since my teens.
I would choose a fresh cauli
Above any lolly ...
And carrots, and spinach, and beans.

To me silver beet is the best
Each night I will eat it with zest
Just let me speak
Of peas, cauli or leek
Or sprouts, for they all pass the test.

We went out to dinner last night
Delicious was every bite
Had entree and main
I'd go there again
And our wallets did not get a fright!!!!

'Twas a cracking good frost here this morning
Kind of crept up without any warning ...
The cats knew about it!!
They weren't going to doubt it ...
They're still in bed, blinking and yawning!!
We went out at lunchtime today
To do some jobs, and on the way
We dug out some dosh
And called in to nosh
A pork roast each ... good idea, eh!!!
They call them our pensioners' perks
We're happy with that, 'cause it works
Out cheaper than cooking
A roast!! (I've been looking
And figuring out all the lurks) ...
On my logfire

is presently brewing
A nice pot of soup - and just stewing
Inside my breadmaker
Is fresh bread a-baking ...
Now, what are the rest of you doing???

Catsmum, you're making me drool
Hot soup - on a day that's so cool
Fresh bread to complete
A meal great to eat
Just thinking about it is cruel.
It's nice to go out for a meal
But home-cooked, now there's food that's real
Those yummy smells
Ring all my bells
I'm sure you know how I feel.

Oh Glen021, gotta say
That logfire soup blew us away!!
Packed choc full of chicken,
Grains, veg - finger-lickin" ...
That soup is the sort that will stay ...
The bread, well it wasn't half bad
And the couple of bits that we had
Filled up all the gaps ...
It made us both haps ...
I was full, and so was the "lad" ...
I'm aiming for Vogels grain bread
My experiments thus far have led
To us being quite pleased
"Cause our hunger has eased
Though "A bit more fine tuning," he said ...
I'm going to try with some barley
(I'll cook it, or it will be gnarley !!)
I'll add all my grain
And try it again
I WILL nail it - or I will be snarly ...

I was thinking all about Shark & Tate
And spuds we have bought as of late
They're Agria, and
They're the best in the land
And they taste really good on your plate
You can chip 'em and eat 'em up fried
You can mash 'em, they don't get all dried
You can roast 'em and bake 'em
That really would make 'em
The best spud that I've ever tried!
