Well its that time of year again and my roses need to be pruned.. but I have a problem..a pink grasshopper who has lived on my coral carpet rose since Christmas. http://www.grownups.co.nz/read/lifestyle/family/we-are-what-we-eat

Does anyone know anywhere that would take in a pink grasshopper in Christchurch? I wondered about museum or something like that.. where he could be seen by ppl.

Hi Shemac, contact the biodiversity section at DOC, they should have someone who can tell you about it and may take it off your hands. I did that when I found a moth the size of a saucer, a real whopper. I have never seen a pink grasshopper.

Well he is pink because he has been eating the coral pink rose all year. Thanks for that info Old Kiwi Kid..just rang Doc and yes they are interested in seeing his pic.

Well..he is now a young Katydid...LOL..not a grasshopper at all. His wings are just starting to form.. and he's a boy! I got the info from the experts, who informed me that he would be fine in the hedge over winter.

LOL at you two..Bobbity and Emelle!!
Champagne, Champaign, ChamPAIN....its too hard to spell Bobbity!!!
I been calling the dude Pinky! But of course I know where to find him when he is pink..once he turns dark green in the hedge..he will be
forever lost to my prying eyes! They are so cute..they have big bug eyes. If anyone hasn't seen him go to my poem at:

http://www.grownups.co.nz/read/lifestyle/family/we-are-what-we-eat

Of course I need to add another verse now that hes a Katydid.
