Hero42, 627, I admit I am not conversant with Greek or Hebrew, so I fall back on another source to check what the Bible actually means, I have an old Dutch Bible that is totally independent of the King James. And in this verse, 1 Corinthians 6, v9 it starts of with.....,
"Of weet gij niet, dat onrechtvaardigen het Koninkrijk God's niet be-erven zullen ? Dwaalt niet !." Which, translated says
"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God ? Be not deceived, neither......", This part is clear enough, and then that verse comes up with the following words.

Ch 20, v13, If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an ABOMINATION: they shall surely be put to death.
Deuteronomy, 22, v5, Cross dressing, The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God
And here is one that has been twisted by double standards by the people in ancient days, right up to modern times. God's word is actually very evenly balanced as far as consequences go. He might seem tough, but He IS fair.
Leviticus 20, v10, And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer AND the adulteress shall surely be put to death. (note, it is not only the woman, but also the man ! God applied the same rule to BOTH offenders )

And Joybel, 629, is correct. Sodom and Gomorrah WERE destroyed because of their abominations, which included homosexuality.
Genesis19, v4-5, But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round both old and young, all the people from every quarter.
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him,"Where are the men which came into thee this night ? bring them out unto us that we may know them (have sex with them. This was the day before the two cities were destroyed.)
Is that not a clear indication that they WERE destroyed because of homosexuality ?

As a matter of fact, I am NOT suggesting that ANY group of society be excluded from marrying. Provided they follow the rules about getting married. ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN. That is the long established rule for marriage.
If I wanted to become a member of, say, a woman's organisation, I would not be eligible, simply because I am not a woman. Is that any less fair ? Or if I wanted to join a heavy rock band, but only intended to play classical music, would it be fair when they excluded me ? Or wanted to join a darts club, but insisted on playing chess, or maybe join a gun club, but only intended to use bow and arrows,
It does not matter WHAT group one wants to join, there are rules of some kind, and you WILL be required to conform. and so it is with marriage. The long established norem is for one woman and one man. Under that rule, there is no objection to marriage

As a happily married man of nearly two years(this second time)& 48 years the first time I am stunned by the vulgar language used by those who feel marriage equality threatens their very existence when we all know that Life will go on & ON.!Carpe Diem.! Hey Chris I just caint agree with you there. All imorality is classed the same. Why is adultry higher on the list than those men who lay with a man like they do with a woman.
I rmember standing in a main denomination general assembly and saying that if they only pick on the poofs they will lose their church. And that is what has actaully happened.
Bloody forget the poofs I say, wipe out all immorality.

I have been told and therefore it is simply hearsay that fundamentalist christians only have sex in what is called the missionary position with the lights out. They also avoid seeing their partners naked. Is there any truth in this?

You are quoting the Levitical Laws but they were removed by the arrival of Jesus and this is confirmed by Paul
The "holiness code" is laid out throughout the Book of Leviticus and parts of Deuteronomy. The Israelites were to follow these laws until the Messiah came and a new covenant was created. This of course happened with the arrival of Christ who established a new covenant, which was founded upon "better promises" (Hebrews 8:6). This new covenant did not rely on a lengthy list of does and don'ts but focused instead on the heart of God's will for us. That being the great commandment of Love in which we are to love God first and foremost and love our neighbor as we love our self (Matthew 22:37-40; Galatians 5:14; John 13:34; Romans 13:10).
As for the Levitical Laws God will hold us accountable for following each and every one of the Laws, no exceptions (Galatians 5:1-6)! This means of course if we want to enforce Levitical Laws on someone else God will require us (not them!) to uphold ALL the Levitical Laws!
These laws require that you can't go anywhere on the Sabbath so that would rule out going to church, shopping at the mall or going to a ball game. If your kids cursed or disobeyed you, you would be under obligation to put them to death. Same penalty for those who read their horoscopes, death. Know of anybody who had committed adultery? You've got it! Death.
I'm not sure this is what God has in mind for us today! At least its a little easier for those in their menstrual period. Instead of death we would only be sent out beyond the city limits to wait out our "humiliation". Jewelry, beauty parlours (i.e. hair styles) or tattoos, forget it! No pork or shellfish and touching anything "unclean" is out. Of course the rub in this case is that anything with a cloven hoof is considered "unclean" so that means pigskin and the like is out! No bacon in the morning, leather purses, wallets, jackets and the like are out. Footballs and basketballs would have to convert over to synthetics or those sports would be out as well.
Divorces would get pretty interesting too. You see, men were permitted to "put away" their wives just about anytime they wanted to. Not to mention they were allowed to have as many wives as they wanted! Women, on the other hand, were forbidden to initiate the divorce and would be stoned to death if they were caught cheating. I could go on and on, but why - especially since these Laws are no longer applicable to us today?

Another thing you may wish to consider and possibly reply on is why Jesus when he set the new covenant declared many things to be forbidden but never said anything about homosexuality?
This raises the question, if homosexuality truly is a sin worthy of eternal damnation, as some believe it is, then why didn't Jesus discuss it? He certainly preached at length concerning every other sin listed. Why would He leave this one out?
