I think you major problem, ocker, is the thread's name. I for one nearly didn't bother to look in "Just another religious" thread thinks I!

How anyone can study the Bible and then say the "Believe" what it say's needs to seriously think about things. I know there are good works done in it's name but there's a bloody lot of bad!

Now I better go hide before they come for me!

Bryan, like yourself, I almost ignored this thread, but Ocker is good value. And I will admit that I could not resist my posting. And also, unfortunately, you are correct in the last part of your post, There are many crimes committed "in the name of". Which does not, however, negate the good things that are done. Human nature being what it is, no matter what good is done, there will always be some that exploit it for their own advantage, or find a way to corrupt it. You must have heard how, after some disasters, when Red Cross and the Sallies start collecting, there are scammers out there collecting and pocketing their collections. Which does not negate the genuine collections.
But enough of that.
Hero. I like yours too. Well done.

Joybel ! ? I assume by your statement that you mean That the Liberal, greedy ,immoral and child abusing western christians and atheists are more acceptable to your god. There is the fact that true communism could have succeeded but unfortunately most turned into dictatorships and a massive hatred of any system that showed signs of people co-operation was built up by the Christian churches aided and abetted by the greedy. As for Islam ? . Sorry to say but that religion is now on the rise and unfortunately there seems no way to stop it except by using nuclear weapons. Wonder if the hypocritical christians of the USA will stoop to that.

It was when the Engish and Europeans like Belgians began their rape killing and pillaging of the African people, Slaughtering them like dogs and forcing them into slavery to extract the riches of their countries to make the Aristocracy and businessmen in Europe and England wealthy.

Then Afghanistan became next as the Russians moved in and The Khyber Pass was the most important route to all merchants.
'The rest is history and the glory vested on the English soldiers who died like fies in India and Sudan as the Muslims began to answer the call for revenge and the English poor rebelled over their own treatment back home.. The Muslims died in their millions as their spears and knives were no match for the English weapons.

The history foisted on us at school was all glory to the Kitchener heroes and nothing about the genocide of the Indigenous people of Africa and India. All this while Queen Victoria sat on the throne of England as ruler. The worm has well and truly turned and the US has a dismal record against the Muslims. Might is not necessessarily right and Christianity may yet win the day. Freemind. Dictators eventually fall.

The Evangelists are a bunch of greedies but spout Christian principles, so if the followers receive somrthing which makes them happy in this world of gross inequality then what has it to do with your bitter outlook on life.

Joybel//??? ,Explain why you think i have a bitter outlook , You see i enjoy life ,Itravel a lot and meet lots of interesting and happy people ,and i should say a lot happier than the Christian greedies of the west .But you are right about history , maybe you should go see the slave museunms and read about the Anglican ministers and their involvement in the slave trade. Just have a look at our city ,destroyed by an earthquake that has devastated the people of the eastern suburbs and all we hear from the religious fanatics is about rebuilding a cathedral. These people are determined to upset their god by challenging its patience so it may reap more havoc on our city.

From SOME of the religious, Freemind, you hear about rebuilding the Cathedral.
From SOME of the humanists, you hear about the plight of the Eastern Suburbs.
From SOME of both groups, you hear support for both and neither being rebuilt.

Just because some wheels' squeaking is being broadcast far and wide and some is being muted doesn't mean only the squeaky ones are rotating; it only means that they are being more noticed.

Well said, Arandar Free (?) mind does indeed have a very bitter, and twisted, outlook on life. This comes out across nearly all her posts.

That's right, I note that one of the most vocal for a rebuild is the "Wizard" of ChCh!

Now I wouldn't have thought that Christianity and Wizardry were compatible! I remember when if you were to join the Mason's you were excommunicated!

No, wizards are not allowed in Christianity. In Levitcus they are to be stoned to death and in Deuteronomy they are driven out by God.

That's why the Christian Right in the US got so upset about Harry Potter.

Cheers biggrin
