My take on the current situation;

If we look at the current overall picture, sugar is sort of OK (show me a recipe without a cup of sugar) and Salt, Sunlight, Fat and Cholesterol are all demonised. Talk about having it backwards and creating health issues.
So what is currently acceptable, substituting a dangerous chemical for sugar and intellectualizing over not putting on weight while getting steadily larger.

Just as Vegetarianism is making an intellectual decision and ignoring the bodies innate ability to use what it needs and dispose of what it does not, (if supplied with good material in the first place) so science tests nutrients in a closed regime and expects it to apply in the human body with all its marvelous symbiotic relationships.

Consider - as the cadavers of Americans killed in Vietnam showed significant arterial closure, the stunning conclusion hammered by the media was Cholesterol was Bad. But the 2 questions:
why was it deposited there and not elsewhere;
and what is the body trying to do;
got drowned out in the clamour to demonise cholesterol and sell a butter replacement which was an intellectually concocted mixture - Double blind test? not a factor in the pursuit of a dollar.

Now we progress (and i use that in a negative sense) to Statins to Lower Cholesterol - why? Because we have this artificially contrived level, which has been lowered a couple of times, that we should strive to achieve - Double Blind test to show the validity of that level - forget it, not important.

I go past the local primary school and all the kids are outside in these hats that look like flowerpots - why should they be screened from the very sunlight that will help them keep healthy? As a baby boomer i can remember being out in that naughty sun from 7 in the morning until sundown and was so brown it looked black. Where is the testing that shows those kids are harmed by the sun - none, where does the drive come from - the Slip Slop Slap type of Crap that is endlessly repeated on the media. Now there is quality research! Perhaps flowerpots is a apt description.

And then we wonder why we have such a big health bill. Time to get in the ear of your children and grandchildren and get them to stop buying into this nonsense that is peddled as health advice, do their own hunting for info and make their own choices.
A big start would be, to do to the telly, as Apple suggested in 1984 with this Ad.
