Hi,No he was the donor. He was brain dead at 49 .At the time the co-ordinators were very good. But after there was very little support or information.I had to ring all the time to find out how the donor recipients were doing, without getting much information.A few years ago I rung to find out any information and was told that the heart recipient had died 2 years earlier and noboby had bothered to tell me.At least he lived an extra 12 years with the heart transplant.Don't know much about the other recipient. After all this time I don't bother ringing anymore.

Hi Ruby,
Did your Husband have to go to Aussie to have the transplant? The Liver/kidney unit here in NZ has only been going just over 10 years. Please don't blame the unit here they are fabulous (they should be after having to deal with me) There are three co-ordinators, Margaret, Val and Barry. There is somebody on call 24/7. I can ring any time and they will help.
We have just had Thank you Donor Day where we planted Freezia bulbs. Each of the members that attended had a supplied T shirt which had thank you in a lot of different languages. So Please don't be put off by something that happened 17 years ago when every thing was in it's infancy.
