Popin
Do what I do, grab them from the kitchen and just heave them in ,for goodness don't get caught as the cook gets annoyed if she goes to get them for dinner and they have disappeared. Remember once they are in the ground you will have a hec of a job getting rid of them as they are a member of the Oxalis family. An old bath or similar is ideal as they have to be contained.
Hope this helps .

Benny,
As I am the cook, I guess I can throw them in the garden without being told off! The old bath suggestion sounds a good idea. Thank you very much!

I put some in that were sprouting from the kitchen Popin. I have grown them before and found they took a long time to mature. About March/April you dig them up. Benny is right, plant in a container.

I would like to try growing yams as we all love them. Can I sprout ones from the supermarket? Would they need the same conditions as potatoes or are they more like kumeras? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
