I am getting a severe, itchy alergy rash and I cannot detect where it is coming from. So far I know it has appeared after eating, on it's own, lamb, beef, yoghurt and cheese. other times have not been able to seperate the foods. I am allergic to meds, like Penicillin. My doctor will not refer me to the allergy clinic, because we can't work out what it is. Has anyone else had this problem?

My ex husband used to have a variety of reactions due to food. Yoghurt and cheese suggest a reaction to dairy foods. He was allergic to all artificial colours, preservatives, wheat, dairy foods and MSG, and eggs

My son also has allergies as well

Suggest that you get a book on food groups and try each one in turn, allowing several days in between to see if you have a reaction. However I DO NOT suggest that you try anything relating to shellfish or peanuts that could cause a severe and even life threatening shock. It takes a while to test, perhaps starting off with plain boiled rice.

I will try and look up allergy support groups for you

The food may just be incidental, lotrfan. It could be a contact allergy. What about medication. I have developed dreadful itching below the waist around the hip, back and pelvis. There is no visible rash though. I would like to blame soap powder but then why is it not on the top half. I am on Beta-loc, frusemide, omnaprezole and a half trimetheprim. maybe one or some of them. Whatever. I sympathize with you as I become almost demented especially in bed at night when i am warm. I will be watching for any help as well. All the best to you.

There are various conditions that cause food and drug allergies. One is histamine intolerance. Another is salicylate sensitivity. I have them both. I eat a low histamine and low salicylate diet.

Hi there
I have had two anaphylaxis in the past and it has been mainly due to food allergies. Also allergic to some medications. Spent a number of occasions at the allergy clinic (dr crump) having allergen injected back into me but couldn't stand the injections. As time has gone on my allergies have become worse. I don't have a thyroid gland now but believe it is all related back to the thyroid gland. My allergies are lamb, seafood, fish, seafood and various sauces and gravies (salicilates). I went along to a nutrionist who put me on an elimination diet before we were able to figure it out. It is hard going to start with but once you have sorted what foods bring it on, you are on a better road to avoid these reactions. In the last 6 months I have come across a water called kangen water which has a very high ph level. Within a day of drinking it, my puffy eyes had gone down and I was able to tolerate more foods. If you want to investigate further, here is a website.

I was a real sceptic to start with but no longer.

It is also beneficial for other things like, heart, cholesterol, blood pressure etc. My antihistamine intake prior to this machine was about 8 a week (when I had my anaphylaxis I was put on 8 a day) but now down to maybe 1 a week or a fortnight. Do sympathise with you and your allergies, there is no much food now that has so many additives etc. in it. Cheers

Hi : My wife, Dian, is a Natural Health Care Provider, 3d year Quantum Reflex Analysis. For diagnosing allergies, she recommends : Allergenics, Titirangi Pharmacy. Good value. I had NO allergies, before meeting my wife, breathing problems were NOT due to consuming nightshade type foods !!
Cheers,
Dian & Dennis.

Hi. I have had an allergy itch for 10 years or more and spent a small fortune on specialists whic has proved to be a waste of time. 6 months ago after trying to diagnose the problem myself I thought that the problem must be from my medication so I started a series of elimination regarding the pills that were prescribed to me by going without one of them for a week at a time, Anyhow, to cut a long story short I isolated Omaprezol or Plendill mwhich I was taking for blood pressure. The Dr took me off that and I have had no further trouble. He has put me on a beta blocker instead.
My allergy was quite severe especially around the groin and genitals. Even around the neck and hands Hope this helps someone else, Merfie.
