There's quite a lot of discussion on the web about this prob.. associated with ink refills or replacements.. and one guy found it occurred due to a bright light confusing a senor. See here:

I've got a Canon MP510 printer and got the dreaded 6502 error message and not managed to rectify - can anyone help please?
