Have recently come back from a trip to Europe and two of the several places I visited were Bruges in Belgium and Cinque Terre on the coast of Italy. Just wondered if other people who have been there were as impressed as I was?
Went to Bruges after seeing the Colin Farrell black comedy "In Bruges" - I'd never heard of it before then. It was beautiful and the highlight was the canal boat ride. So relaxing. Flower baskets hanging on railings, horse and cart rides through the town - just a place so unlike any other.
After Rome we went to Cinque Terre, before Venice (which I loved also) and stayed in Vernazza, one of the 5 villages. It's another world and I would love to go back and spend more time there. You can only get there by train or by sea and each village is so interesting. Corniglia is where pesto was first made and we sat under umbrellas under spreading trees in a little square and ate pesto pizza and drank chianti. Sheer heaven!
Would love to hear your thoughts on either of these places!
