I think you are right about `chaos' inspiring creativity. The `tidier' and more organised I get with my writing the less I seem to do.

have you everr experienced 'autowriting', gg. I think thats what they call it.
Its when the words kinda flow of the pen.. it almost takes on a life of its own. Some song writers have that happen too. I think 'stairway to heaven' was writen like that...if I remember right.

Its usually an un-controled or planned happening..jlust occurs out of the blue.

Once an idea kick-starts a storyline for me I find I can almost complete a short story (of, say, two to three thousand words) in one sitting. Then I put it aside for a couple of weeks, to clear my mind of words, then edit it to fine tune the story.

I don't know if it's `auto-writing' with me, but once I sit down at the keyboard the ideas and words flow. I sometimes have to jot ideas down on scrap paper as I'm writing because ideas for the story ping into my mind while I'm still trying to write the `current' storyline.

I never have a beginning, middle and end when I start writing. I think the `failure' to do this is why my novels are taking me so long to write. I've got two on the go and I'm `stuck' after 35,000 words on each. I'll get there, but I need peace and quiet and unloading a 40' container isn't giving me that! biggrin

hmmm.. sometimes things work better when you aren't thinking about them, gg.

maybe something will click in your mind (not your back I hope) while you're unloading.. then again maybe not..

rolleyesI wrote my Menoirs and self published them a couple of years ago. My problem was after the book launch I didnt have anyone willing to help me to advertise or publish a revue. Local papers promise but don't follow through. I would dearly love to write, again but my mind has dried up of ideas

Hi Patricia,

I'm interested on how you self published your book. Did it cost much? Did you do it through something on the internet?

I've recently joined up with writing.com (my mother is a member of a writing group in Ak and she passed the link on to me) and I entered their "55 word short story" competition. Tell me what you think?
