What a wonderful family you have, Shi.
Are you planning on staying put in Auckland or do you think you will go to other North Island centres like Rotorua, Wellington, Bay of Islands (or venture down to the South Island)?
How long will you be in New Zealand?
Rotorua is a must if you want to see some Maori cultural events, tourist attractions, geysers and bubbling mud.
The Coromandel has some beautiful scenery, so does the Bay of Islands. Different directions but only a couple of hours out of Auckland.
You have to see Tane Mahuta the giant kauri tree in the Waipoua Forest in the Northland Region. That's on the way to the Bay of Islands. No photo does it justice. You have to experience the sight and atmosphere of the place. It's almost a religious experience!
To begin with, here's a link for Auckland that you might want to check out. And one for the Automobile Association too.

I have been a member of grown ups for some time, even though I am from Ireland. I Have been interested in NZ as the youngest of our large brood is living in Auckland.
For our 40th wedding anniversary our children are flying us out to spend Christmas with Frank which is lovely but I have the job of scouting out the places we will visit, we will be accompanied by another of our 5 sons who will share the driving over there.
This is where you come in, please tell me places that is good to visit we are hoping to fly into Christchurch and then fly up to Auckland where frank lives. Now nothing too adventurous as I use a wheelchair please!!!
