A Pleasant surprise this St Patricks morning awaited me from THE OLD VICARAGE @ Halswell Bess001s Cafe Selection. Laura The Manager has confirmed that THE LIBRARY is booked in our name and that more importantly the COFFEES Are on Them. So Rattle your Dags on Monday and join us Canterbury Grownups friends @1030am. Cheers, Dr.L.
& Sure to be sure and begorrah.!

The joy we Cantabrians feel for one of Christchurchs iconic Stores will be realised this afternoon for Desi & I with reopening of ALICE IN VIDEOLAND In old High Street Post Office. We have been renting DVDs online and picking them up @ The Drawing Room but today some of the cordon in Manchester Street has been opened. YIPPEE.!

A lot of nostagia in the old High St. Post Office for our family. Our eldest son got his first job from school there in the eighties. He was there for 6 years until he married and moved to Auckland. Our youngest son also worked there until it closed and he now works for Beckenham post. I also worked there in a temporary position on different occasions. Great to see that it is one of the buildings that are remaining.

Desi & I enjoyed our walk along Manchester Street from Dundas Street as roads were lined with cars for Alice In Videolands reopening. I met two friends there tooWe browsed the shelves of Arthouse Movies, Comedys and TV Series as well as Music on displayWe lamented the loss of most of SOL SQUARE & LICHFIELD LANES and impending loss of Majestic Theatre.

Flash the photos are just as it looks. everything seems so strange when walking through. With so many building already down already one can't remember what had been there.
I will try to put same photos on from our Hanmer break. I will bring my Ipad on Monday.

Just flicking around the Holiday Homes websites tonight dreaming of another BITOFADO. We think another visit to Hanmer this year maybe on the cards? and maybe ???? AKAROA for A Canterbury GROWNUPS BITOFADO Extraordinaire.!!Dr.L has several hidden gem places around AKAROA and if we could get the right place it could be another BITOFADO Destination. Desi & I may just have to check this out........
