Go on, tell us.

I've been to dozens and dozens of concerts and live musical shows in my short time on earth.

I love 'em...!

What are some that you've enjoyed? Who was in it? Where did you see it? Tell us all about it!

I enjoyed Russell Watson and Paul Potts when they toured last year. There renditions of "You Raise Me Up and Nessum Dorma priceless.

We would love to go to Leonard Cohen but not atthe Westpac Centre in Christchurch. You will hardly see him the distance you,d be back from stage in that mausoleum. And the price I,d probably have to mortgage the house?

Best `outdoor concert' for me was `The Beach Boys'

To be honest I can't remember if it was the late 70s or early 80s but I remember the concert well.

The sun was beating down and with their unique sound (and with one's eyes closed) you'd have thought you were sitting on some Californian beach!

It was at Western Springs stadium, in Auckland and we got there early so we could get a good seat. Don't know why we worried where we'd sit because we danced the entire time. biggrin

I've been to hundreds of live shows over the years. In the 60s and 70s I went to mainly small clubs in England to see the likes of Graham Bond Organisation, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Spencer Davis Group, Moody Blues, Patto, Chicken Shack, Argent, East of Eden, The Troggs, The Who and many others. All brilliant musos!! As for concerts, Ginger Baker's Airforce, the Stones come to mind. In NZ, the only original artists I've seen (there's lots of covers and copycat bands) have been Eric Clapton, Cliff Richard and The Shadows and John Mayall. So no particular favourites really, just a love of live music.

You and me alike, Drummer47. I love live theatre, concerts and shows.

When I was in the UK, back in the 80s, I had the pick of the bunch every week. `Local' bands (including the likes of Elton John, Suzy Quatro and David Essex) would only be ten or fifteen pound to see.

Went to a local dance once, in East Ham, and the band were great. Terrific songs; I think me and my mates danced all night. During one of the breaks we got talking to one of the band and I said "You play a lot of the Swinging Blue Jeans songs, why's that?" and he said "Because we're the Swinging Blue Jeans". redface

Spent a great night at Ronnie Scott's in Westminster. I miss those sorts of experiences. You could go out every night of every week and find some sort of entertainment in London. Here, unfortunately, shows are few and far between. sad

Anybody going to the Daniel O"Donnell show on the 24th Sept, at the civic theatre, Auckland? He comes out to NZ every 2 yrs, and have already been to 3 of his shows, and of course each show is different from the last. Really enjoy his shows, well worth going too, and do love his singing!!!!!

Smiley, what sort of songs does he sing?

I know he is a balladeer, but does he focus on mainly Irish songs or sing an assortment of songs?

He obviously has a good following out here because he comes to New Zealand regularly. I've marked it on my calendar. Just got to talk to the family now. wink

Yes Daniel O Donnell is a great entertainer. Mary Duff companies him. Yes well worth going to. Going to Andre Rieu as well. I organise trips to most shows and concerts so seen alot of great artists.

Yes I too have seen shows in England while visiting and a great selection.

I saw an advertisement for `Andre Rieu' the other day and it seems `The Seekers' are going to appear on his show as well.

I'm thinking of going to this show. I've only seen Andre Rieu on dvd but the shows look spectacular.

I've seen `The Seekers' in concert ... when they did their big re-union show. It was fantastic!

Did you organise a trip to that? How many people do you arrange trips for? Do you arrange for coaches or drive them yourself?

Back in the 80s my sister and I owned a company called `Outings'' and we organised day trips for the 60+ age group. It's no easy task (but then I'm not telling you something you already know). biggrin

Saw Mamma Mia in the West End London. Great show especially the finale when the cast come back on stage and do a medley of Abba songs. Literally everyone in the audience is standing, clapping and joining in, great atmosphere to end the show.
Some great concerts in the Symphony Hall Birmingham too. At Christmas a group of ex D'oyle Carte singers put on a concert performing favourite songs from Gilbert and Sullivan to a packed audience. but my favourite would have to be the last two Chris Rea gigs.
Have seen many over the years and each one seems the best at the time, until the next one comes along.
