50 WORDS

After 15 years of the filthy habit, I gave it away when I was 31. I'd been smoking since I was about 17 and decided the time was right. It wasn't easy I know that, but the benefits were worth it. Haven't had even a puff since and never will! wink

Sorry....I think I got off subject there a bit! rolleyes

50 WORD STORY - LAUGHING

Congratulations Fern on giving up and never going back and a belated Happy Birthday. Going Grey, my story is true. If yours is also, well done. Each day is really difficult but at the end of each day when you are in bed, you think, ‘Well, another day under the belt!’ razzrazzrazz

50 WORD STORY

I’ve never smoked in my life, other than one self-made, roll-your-own-cigarette that my uncle gave me when I was fifteen. I coughed, spluttered and swore I’d never touch another. Everyone laughed at me. My dad smoked sixty a day and with each puff they stole that lovely man’s life away.

A bit morbid but I did incorporate the word `laughed' into it! biggrin

50 WORD STORY

You hang in there Supergold and good on ya for taking the plunge to stop. Not a laughing matter I know, but you'll be laughing in a few months when you've got more money in the bank, food tastes great, that niggly cough's all gone and you're running up hills! wink

50 WORD STORY:

My wife and I married fifty years ago. We've been through everything together. We courted, got engaged then wed. We had children who, in turn, had children. We've had a full life. There has been good times and hard times but throughout it all, there's been a lot of laughter! mrgreen

Pitch dark, shecarefully folded back the blankets so as not to disturb the warmth of her body as she made the second visit to the you know where that night. It was important to have minimal disturbance before being able to climb back into the comforting warmth of a comfortable bed. Relieved, she cautiously padded back to her room when something soft and furry brushed againt her leg. Stumbling, her hip bumping against the angular corner of the dressing table, she let out an expletive, knowing she' d be certain to have another bruise to add to her collection ! "Damn that cat!"

Crack! Something woke Rebecca from a very deep sleep making her instantly wide awake. She sat up in bed, her heart pounding, grabbing her glasses and the phone when she was startled to hear another crack coming from the spare bedroom. Eventually feeling very brave she crept from her bed and down the hall. She listened intently standing outside the closed door with a solid unlit torch in hand for defence but all was quiet. Deciding the intruder must have gone out the window she flung open the door to find everything normal. No more sleep for Rebecca, that night.

100 WORD STORY

Mary’s eyes opened suddenly. She’d been in a deep sleep up until that point but something made her wake. Mary lay completely still, listening intently for any strange noises. Nothing. She turned over on her back and glanced around to see her room, lit by the moonlight, was just as she had left it when she got into bed. She closed her eyes to sleep. Suddenly a voice from the shadows said “There’s no need to be scared of the dark, Mary. It’s what lurks in the dark that you need to be frightened of.” Mary let out a scream!

TRUE STORY 100 words

Noises in the dark, shivers down my spine.
I crept out of bed, opened my front door as an escape route, in case there
WAS an intruder.
I quietly turned the door handle of the spare room, threw it open,
flicked on the light, and round the room raced the neighbours’ cat.
It had come through the small gap left when I screwed the windows in
place to allow a small amount of fresh air 24/7.
The floor length drapes had prevented it from making it’s way out again.
It raced past me, and used my escape route as an exit
