If you are contemplating buying a new TV sometime soon, you will probably be looking at a High Definition set, HDTV. The cheaper Plasma sets do not have very high resolution and should be looked at fairly carefully as they could be a disappointment when HDTV finally arrives.
The number of different technologies out there at the moment, and about to surface, are totally confusing so I am posting a link to a discussion at CNET which may shed some light on it all: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-10149_102-0.html?forumID=7&threadID=223503&messageID=2347548&tag=nl.e497

I recently made my choice of a once in a lifetime big screen set, and am extremely happy with it, but do realise that it will be outmoded pretty rapidly.

Hope this helps one or two of you.

Cheers
