The other JK thread has been closed - you can still view all 480 odd pages of it but you can no longer post in there.

I see JK is having a big clean out in the Health sector. "There may be some redundancies", he says. Hope its some of those well paid plutocrats at the top.

Me too GB...I wish he'd do that with some of the high paid ones in ACC instead of putting up levies and cutting services.

I hope J.K.gets stuck into I.R.D next, they are the biggest overpaid ,underworked Govt. Dept in N.Z. Most of the top bureaucrats
in this outfit think that they can walk on water. A good clean out would mean a better more humane dept where people were treated as humans and not just a number.

Cant agree with you re I.R.D staff, I know a person who works there in a fairly senior position and he works extremley hard.
He certainly dosen't get paid enough for some of the abuse he has had to take while trying to help some members of the public.
Some may be over paid and under worked but not the person I know.

Sadly the cleanout is the workers in the back office, that is the people who process the paper and make sure the records get updated.
Now you didn't actually think John would get rid of the high paid bosses who are by and large National supporters did you.

It sounds to me that the saving will be by some form of centralization, so staff affected would be across the board.
From Stuff.
"We shouldn't have 21 DHBs with 21 IT systems that don't talk to each other, that can't help improve the quality of services for patients.
"We've got 21 payroll systems, we've got 21 approaches to workforce issues, all sorts of approaches to how capital is spent in the health service. We can get considerable efficiencies by bringing those together in a much more integrated way."
