sounds like you have a real problem mcs only things I can suggest that you empty out your fridg and wipe it out with a weak solution of janola, water, and dish washing liquid or is that perhaps to harsh or the other suggestion is to use spray n wipe the one with baking soda it comes with a strong perfume and maybe of some help
Good Luck

Good news, first of all thanks to all for those suggestions.
I'm glad to say the smell has weakened so much in the fridge that it's bearable now.
After trying several of the suggestions and washing every single item in there ,something seems to have worked!
Needless to say I avoid scallops like the plague now . Cheers.

this is a thread that we could keep going, either with requests for help, or help offered unsolicited.
My offer of help also concernes a smell.
If you have an unpleasant smell on your hands, rub them with roll-on deodorant, you'll be surprised how quickly the smell will disappear.

I read somewhere that a small bowl of vinegar placed in the room will take the smell away.
I've tried it myself and it works.

nothing to do with the smell in the fridge but this I know works very well if you have a bad smell on your hands that you can't get rid of get a small amount of mustard powder mix to a paste on your hands rub for a few minutes then rinse well and the smell will be gone. Works very well if you have been using bleach. Then rub some hand cream in

Rubbing a cut lemon on your hands works well too.

I was given some scallops that were "off" recently and now I can't get the smell out of my fridge.

I tried a cut onion but that didn't work ...I now have that extra smell to go with it too!
Tried spray , dry baking soda ,vanilla etc, all these are adding to the smell!
Can someone please help?
