Sorry, my attempts at humour are usually a failure. And that one certainly didn't make the grade as a flippant off the cuff remark. redface redface

I thought your comment was quite amusing Morgana, certainly no worse than suggesting 3 billion people should be slaughtered. I'm sure OJ's remark was meant to be funny also. . . . wink

"Old Jack
That is a solution though not one most people would accept. Perhaps you could set an example and publicly commit suicide to save the planet and start the ball rolling."

Good point mate. But at my age I wouldn't be saving much at all Eh!

But purhaps old Hussein Obama's mate who want to kill white babies should get the go ahead.

Morgana: “It has now become clear to scientists that the Medieval Warm Period occurred during a time which had higher than average solar radiation and less volcanic activity (both resulting in warming) . . . . .”

I thought you said in your previous comment that it was caused by all the trees being chopped down?

Morgana: “Since that early century warming, temperatures have risen well beyond those achieved during the Medieval Warm Period across most of the Globe.”

That is simply not true. Temperatures were higher in the Medieval Warm Period than they are today, not only by a factor greater than CO2 could ever explain during the last 10,000 years, but because CO2 levels have remained constant throughout the period.

Morgana: “Natural oscillations like Pacific Decadal Oscillation simply move heat around from oceans to air and vice-versa. They don't have the ability to either create or retain heat.”

Yes, that is true, but what you don’t mention is that the planets dispersal of absorbed heat throughout the planet by way of ocean currents allows far more heat to escape to space due to the greatly enlarged surface area that long wave radiation (heat) can radiate from into outer space, thereby cooling the planet more efficiently than if those currents didn’t exist.

Morgana: “You glibly say we can discount CO2 as a very minor player but offer no scientific proof as to why we should discount it. All your alternative reasons can be scientifically explained away but the effect of CO2 can't. . . . “

Only a few months ago you said that it wasn’t CO2’s greenhouse effect that was important, but the positive feedbacks as a result of the effect of CO2, like cloud changes and the amount of water vapor etc. These are supposed, according to you and the IPCC, to eventually result in a “tipping point” where runaway greenhouse effects will result in catastrophic changes to climate and doom for the planet, especially the polar bears (the poles are melting! Eeeek!).

The problem for the theory of AGW is that as we learn more about our planet we find that our climate is much more complex than the simple and naïve computer generated models that the IPCC put forward as credible evidence of impending disaster which are quite frankly not supported by the latest scientific data.

Don't know about this 'global warming' kragus, just been snow plowing a path out from the back door. confused
We don't get snow dumps like this on the coast. If it is snowing inland or in the high country, we usually get cold showers with snow which melts with the rain.
All I know is I am sick of winter going on since last summer, for what that was. Temps were too cold for growing. neutral

Please don't quote me out of context, it does nothing for your arguments. Read again what I said if you don't understand what I was illustrating. And there is no point in stating something is wrong without putting up the facts.

Don't get weather mixed up with climate change they are two different things, although there are those who think the changes to the climate are reflected in the more frequent extreme weather events we are seeing.
