Arthur Allen Thomas never gave his helper a cent. Maybe the money is not as important as being exonerated to Bain. Joe Karam has hung in there for years because he believes in Bains innocence. I don't imagine it is all he has been doing for this long. If the case is lost he will get nothing and the defence lawyers are the ones to be paid.

Yes, you can take it as correct that the family believe David did it. I had personal contact with several members of the family in the days after the murders and they were all convinced of his guilt even before he went to trial the first time. That is one of the reasons when he got bail that he was not to contact the family and nor was he allowed to come to the South Island. He never came back south until just before his retrial.

Thank you OKK-I wasn't sure if that was what Rata was asking.
There is an important aspect in the trial today regarding the murder of Robin Bain. Was his fatal shot self-inflicted? From things I have read I gather that the position of the bullet entry is vital evidence.Sorry to be so clicical when it refers to a man's life though.

His body would be warm as he was murderered after the paper round the rest of the Family was murdered after midnight. If Robin murdered them and David was asleep how could he possibly not hear the struggle with his Brother Stephen? did Robin go back to bed then? incredible that people believe David is innocent. The pathologist stated that Robins bladder was full and the unrine strong inkeeping with a full night sleep, people are saying he killed everyone went back to bed without going to the loo and slept ( I doubt that). Then the rifle the pathologist has said judging by the the wound to Robins head looked like the gun was held 20cms away from his head, how could he have killed himself then? Also did he wipe off his fingerprints after he killed himself as there are no prints on the gun.One significant thing for me was when David was released he had the media and friends show up to wish him well, where was his extended Family?.( they know he did it) If that were someone in my Family I believed to be innocent, I would be there with bells on to wish him well and welcome home.
I would just like to see his fathers name cleared. If and when David is found guilty he should help pay back court costs so the tax payer doesn't have to pay for his wasting the courts time.

Guilty or innocent it's still a waste of taxpayers money. He has done 15 years so let him out and forget all about him. I hate to think how much money this bungled case has cost even before the start of the present trial.

A simple polygraph test would have solved a lot of humbug or at least given an inkling on what happened . I don't think anyone could beat the machine all the time and could have been given to the detectives as well . It would have been interesting .

Hahahahah Ocker, I have posted more recipes smile I have to say though the defense is trying ( very trying) but all red herrings, why in the world would someone try to kill himself that way. one pathologist said that he had never heard of anyone using a silencer on a gun to kill himself. I have to say why bother? because if you were going to kill youself, would it matter who heard ( you would be dead. Why make things things more difficult, if you missed the mark you would be just maimed for life.
Hope everyone has had a great week, have a lovely weekend.lol

Also, how hard would it be for a right handed person to shoot themselves in the LEFT temple? Especially with a downward tracking bullet from a loooong barrelled rifle with a silencer on the end?

This country has wasted millions of dollars on this crazy enquiry when any intelligent person could give the answer to it in one sentence (ie)

David Bain came home from his paper round saw that his father had killed his family so he shot him.

END OF STORY.
