I often wonder how many poems have been lost because men tend to keep them to themselves. My father was a poet, and I've recently discovered that my brother is also. And believe me both of them are far from being dainty, lol.
I've just finished enjoying your poem Sullenly at Molyneaux Bay and Elsewhere. More men should post their poetry.

When you look back over the centuries most of the famous poets were men. When did it become sissy for men to write. I know a lot of men who write poetry. The poetry sites I belong to on the net are full of men writing excellent stuff. We need the imput of both sexes, as each has their own unique view of things.

I went through intermediate school with Hone Tuwhare's son. He was always being ribbed that his dad wrote poems. I bet all those who took the mickey out of him are red faced now.

When I was a lad - that's a bit ago - poetry was a girl's territory. You wouldn't dare admit you wrote it. I think nowadays it is more acceptable for a male to enjoy and write verse.
