OK Dr. Eva Hill and Carrot Juice.

This story is about my dead nephew. 1960 to 1969.

When the young fella was 2 years old he appeared cross-eyed so after a few hospitals visits the doctors (Wgton Hosp) opened up his head to find a huge tumour, and also he was blind in his right eye.

They closed the little fella up and said sorry Mr. X he has got a maximum of 18 months. My brother immediately started searching and somehow got on to Eva Hill in Auckland.....cutting a long story short here. Her diagnosis was....water and plenty of it for 4 days, then 7 lbs. of carrot (put through a whizzer thingie) juice from that point on every day for (I forget now) months, but 7 rings a bell, THAT WAS IT AND NO OTHER NORMAL FOOD, but what food he was allowed had to be RAW and grown organically with no exceptions.

After that 7??? month period he came off the 'strict' carrot juice diet and onto a totally raw diet. No meat, dairy products, or manufactured food and this the whole family went on including visitors with no exceptions. There was not an ounce of fat an any of the family which consisted of 3 elder sisters plus mum and dad.

It was the sister's job to take particular notice of the little fella at school and after a period of time he rejected all food apart for his diet....he was also allowed to eat whatever he wished on his birthday and Xmas day but he also rejected this too.

They got 9 beautiful years out of the little fella but he passed very peacefully in his sleep in late '69....after he started the diet about '62 at no stage did he ever suffer pain. Sadly it caused the family a bit of false hope between the birth and death dates, better that than effecting the little fella.

Funnily enough, hardly a day goes by without carrot passing our lips, winkwinkwink

Cheers. biggrin

Kia ora koe Squirter,

I think it was great that the family committed themselves to the task of doing everything in their power for their son.
And you never know, we too may know of someone in the same situation, and we will be able to share your post.
Great sharing.

Enjoy your day katoa.razzrazz

Problem by the time you shoo the white butteries off water weed and look after the plants Problem I find is when the plants are ready for harvest they are dirt cheap at the shops when the price is though the roof yours are nowhere ready. I always have silver beet growing but by the time the Tomatoes are ready they are giving them away down at the shops so why do I bother.

Narroc, I know what your saying. I have had a vege garden for years and have always enjoyed 'growing my own'. Don't know if it's the awful weather we've been having, 'cause nothing seems to be doing what it should be compared to previous years. If you have to buy preventives for rust, white fly, etc etc makes more sense to buy from vege shop.
But no doubt I'll do it all over again, maybe not happy about the outcome, but something about watching those seeds turn into something you've nurtured yourself?
