Thank you Kai & loveable nana. We appreciate your love & support.

It is hard to believe that it is a year since that disastrous day.

Thank you to all who remembered us today and thank you for the support of any kind you sent and in many cases are still sending our way.

There were many small rememberance meetings all over town. In my case one of our local shops broke asunder and killed two ladies, we gathered today to remember them and all the others who are no longer with us at 12.51pm. Then for those who could not make that gathering another "service" brought many more of the neighbourhood together at 7pm.

Songs were sung, seeds were scattered and candles lite, we remembered and we helped in the healing by being together.

Our local shopping area will never be the same, the buildings are gone but the people are still there and one day we will again have our local shopping area rise and present a bold new face to both Christchurch and the World.

A poignant day yesterday and most of us worldwide remember only too well. You are all in our thoughts, not forgetting the continuous after shocks which still bring fear to CHCH residents and as a result, regeneration is slow and agonising. We just hope that in the coming year, things will improve for you all and you are certainly not forgotten.

I went across to Eastgate for the gathering there. It was busy and the chatting amongst the diners seemed very loud. I looked at the photos of the damage to the mall which I had not seen before. I was astonished at the amount and could only think how much worse it could it have been.

The workers came in and soon quite a large crowd was standing around. Suddenly a hush came over the Mall and the silence was so profound as we stood there for the longest minutes I have ever experienced. Then it was over.

As though a camera had been switched on the characters came to life as we hugged and went about our business. It was hard not to burst into tears as the whole year was encapsulated in that period of reflection. I hugged my neighbours and hugged a strange lady standing alone on her crutches.

Joybell, I was only able to watch a small amount on TV yesterday,, but was so moved at times by what i saw. Certainly brought back memories for you all no doubt.

I am looking forward to coming down to Christchurch in April, so hope we can meet up again Joybell. Will be staying with Flash Gordon and Audrey.

Have to see what we can arrange, Lizzey. Will you be here for Easter? Golly, I have no idea when Easter is. The world is so narrow here I have to think what day it is at times. You have been having a lot of rain while we have to beg for it. My watering day tomorrow. Take care. Cheers

Joybel, i will be there in Ch Ch arriving about 6pm on the 11th April, and back on the 17th April, leaving about 6.15pm. Flash Gordon and Audrey are arranging to take me to Greymouth one day and back the next, as this was a trip i was to do with my sister and her hubby back in Sept 2010, but had to cancet that trip, hence the reason i am going this time, but travelling on my own.

Hello all. Leaving Northlands today I met Hazel (our lovely coffee lady from the Elms) & she wished us all a great 2012. She was pleased that we were still all meeting every Wednesday.

All the things that has happened in the last month.....did anyone see the documentry that was taken by private people in japan about the earthquake and tsuami there...
it was wonderful how it had all been put together...
I just wish that we didnt live with fear of when the next big one will come as I do.

Hi all, I expect to be coming down to Chch on Sat 24 March (this Sat) yet to be confirmed with Floosie, though have left message on her answerphone. Will be returning to Dargaville on morning of Sunday 1st April. I know it's short notice (things conspired against me this end) but if possible I would like to meet with those of you who can.
Here's hoping.biggrin

Hi Valsi,
We usually meet at Cafe Atua, Garden Hotel, Marshlands Road on a Wednesday morning at 10.20am. Perhaps you and Floosie may like to meet up with us there? There may be other suggestions and I will alert Grannystitcher of your time frame and she may have other options for us all to meet.
