Glad you liked Santa's footprints Going Grey. That wee boy is now nearly 50 and definitely going grey himself, was talking to him the other day and asked him if he remembered about that Christmas. ' Oh yes' he said 'I wondered how he had managed to fit down our chimney and how cross you would be because Santa hadn't wiped his boots before he came in'. Well I laughed until I almost had a wee accident. Precious memories. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt Juliem.razz

Great handiwork Juliem - very impressive. Re Santa's footprints. One of my DIL's makes Santa foot prints using flour and outside on the path leading up to front door, reindeer footprints are also left using flour. That would take a bit more doing but is worth it to see kids faces on Christmas morning. Kids leave carrots for the reindeer (and milk for Santa plus a couple of biscuits) and you can see the bits of carrot that drop out of reindeers mouth are left scattered about too. Much more imaginative than I ever was.
One year my daughter told me she had heard sleigh bells as Santa landed on the roof and to this day she swears she really did hear them - I might add she is 41 now!! eek Even asked me if I had used bells to try and fool her and 3 brothers. Great what imagination can do when you are expecting to hear something. rolleyes
Seeing the large Santa reminded me of the stockings I made for each of our 8 grandchildren using a panel similar to that one. Even the older girls still have theirs and with one of them expecting her first baby in a few weeks I am presuming she may use this when the time comes for Santa to visit their house. lol

Thank you all. But it does give people a idea in what you can use and do I have also just made our ggrandson his first stocking all that has to go onto it is his name. The stockings have all been highlighted with 3d paint.
Threads I can remember writing letters to my children to thank them for the drink of milk and biscuits, but never thought of the flour. I love hearing from children that use their imagination some of their stories can be so funny and you have to sit there without laughing biggrin

Hi Rose. Wow finely meet someone from the area. I will let you know. What a shame I am sure if you google crocheted christmas decoration patterns you may be surprised what pops up. Christmas is quiet for us too with family in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch. But we always do our house and garden up sadly this year with going to Auckland at the beginning of December it won't be done. But next year hopefully we will start in October it takes from then to get all the lights sorted etc. We will have open garden and fundraise for Ronald Mc Donald house in Christchurch. We used to do alot of fundraising for Ronald Mc Donald house in Auckland so would like to continue it down here. Hopefully we may meet up sometime Rose. Julie biggrin
