Hello miggle,
Yes I am familiar with iWork, there was a trial version on my MacBook when I bought it. The trial has now expired and I couldn't afford to buy it at the moment so I use Neo Office. I think "Presentations" in Neo Office opens Powerpoint stuff, but I'll have to send myself something created in Powerpoint to see if it opens it. I'm a fairly new user of Mac OS, so am still experimenting.
I also have a PC Desktop running Win XP.
I love my MacBook so much I blogged it!

Hi Abirdy and miggle,
Yes! NeoOffice does open Powerpoint things. I just sent myself something that was created in powerpoint by a friend and NeoOffice opened it no problem. biggrin

Apple leopard 10.5.8 help please.
We have just the basic knowledge of using my new computer and somehow my husband has just deleted the heading which allows us to
type in and google/plus the forward/backward arrows have also disappeared.
He doesn't know how. I have rescued a few things he has done, but this
time do not know where to go to reinstate it.

Elderflower, just go to the top tool bar of Safari and click on View, then Show Tool Bar. That will bring it back. He has accidentally clicked on Hide Tool Bar.
I don't know why they have choices such as Hide Tool Bar - why would anyone want to hide it???

Whoa Mona, we all make mistakes, once I completely deleted an entire Ms Office! Husbands on the other hand tend to think a bit differently. Lol! Fortunately for Elderflower, the "mistake" was recoverable.
Elderflower,

Some people don't like anything intruding on their homepage or desktop. I have Leopard on my Macbook and have the dock down the left hand side to give more space on the desktop view. Good on you for choosing Mac OS!

Where did the weekend go..... back now and many thanks to all, unfortunately when I checked 'view' as suggested found my husband not
guilty of 'hiding' anything!! lol
so where do I go to now?
I do have the Apple start up page when I go to Safari, could they have changed the format? as whatever site I look up has the 'grey bar at the top' with only the icons for 'show bookmarks' and 'show top sites'. plus of course the coloured buttons in left hand corner.

The only good news is it is saving money by my not able to 'bid' on Trade Me !!!!! lol but mighty frustrating

Hi Elderflower,
So when you clicked on "View", was there an option of Toolbars or a little arrow pointing to more options?
In Firefox browser, you click on View then on Toolbars and then on Navigation bar, which is the Address bar which you seem to have lost.
I don't have Safari, but there will be something similar in there.

Ok, in Safari, click on View and then on "Show Toolbar. That should bring back your Address bar.

Thanks again Cookybaby, had to go into Newmarket today and called into the Apple Mac shop, lovely young man showed me to click on 'view' and 'customise toolbar' where I was able to drag the missing pieces back onto
the bar, (strange how just half the toolbar was missing)
He could not explain why it happened.
Yeh...... we are back in business.
Now to tackle software updates another 'scary' must do for newbies.

Hi Elderflower,
funny, that was going to be my next suggestion! Updates are pretty easy, mostly they just do themselves on a Mac.
