I was told by friends that there was something on tv about thyroxin, but didn't see it myself. I've been on it for a couple of years and have had nausea and very sore eyes and joint pain plus a lot of other pain, I also feel very tired most of the time.I've told my doctor and asked if there was another medication I could have instead Thyroxin made by Glaxo. So far I haven't heard back.

Is there something in our water supply that seems to be causing thyroid problems, considering we are all from the same area.My thyroid has nodules the size of 10c pieces, but need no medication at this point.

Wasn't salt iodized to combat thyroid deficiency ? Read an article on salt as it is sold in the supermarkets. Seems it is just sodium chloride as in the process to make it appealing to the eye, the benefits it may have for us are removed. We are told to take salt out of our diets. Real salt is actually greyish and damp. but where to by it as the article points out that even the "real salt" sold in health shops is not always what it is claimed to be. Do cows still have salt licks?

I always buy salt that is iodized, not sure if it helps or not.

I've always been told that iodized salt was for thyroid health, and use it , but who knows what's in anything we eat or drink now days. I do know that the taste and colour of our drinking water is pretty revolting at times. I was hyperthroid (over active) and when drugs the doc gave me didn't do any good I was given Radio Iodine treatment. I'm now hypothoid (under active) and must stay on thyroxin for life. And if that's what is making me feel so ill and when I cant find out how to get another brand that is out there, or so I'm told and might help the way I feel, it's not a nice thought.

I wonder if any one out there can put me onto a herbal alternative to thyroxine. My doctor has told me that i am now stuck with these new big pills, but they are doing me more harm than good. i recently sent away to the medical board all my problems, itchy and dry eye's, sore joints, swollen and numb hands, weight gain, tiredness, mood swings but have never even had a response from them. I have now stopped taking them and most of the symtoms have gone except for the weight gain and tiredness. I had been taking the smaller ones for about 15 years and they worked ok, but these new ones i believe are killing me. Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated

I have got a growth on my thryroid but am told it is on my nodule. The specialist i was sent to after having an ultrasound told me i could have it surgically removed or could leave it and have an ultrasound every six months to see what it is going to do????
Wonder whether i have made the right choice in choosing an ultrasound?

I have been on thyroxine tablets for about 4 years now for an underactive thyroid. About 3 months ago I was changed to the new
"cheaper" ones which are now dispensed. I asked my doc. about them because I heard that they were causing problems. When I asked the chemist he said they were the only ones he could dispense.
Anyone had any problems?

I've been on a small white tablet of thyroxine,50 mcg strength each for a number of years.
When I've asked several different chemists about being able to get different ones I've been told it's the only ones they dispense.

Has anyone had any problems with their health while being treated with Levothyroxine (Thyroxine) for an under active thyroid
