These fast food outlets need to be looked at as to what they are paying these kids.
Sounds like a rip off to me.

But the 16-year-old was surprised when a colleague told him he would receive only $5.50 a delivery, using his own car and petrol. He had no written contract.
Over the time he worked there it averaged out at $4.50 an hour.

Would it even be legal to employ a 16 yr old as a delivery driver? Aren't there restrictions on licenses about driving after a certain time? And at what stage does the requirement for having a fully licensed driver beside you come off?

I have a solo mother living next door to me...her 13 yr old son gets $7.00 per hour for holding a sign up advertising Domino's pizza....dont know how many hours he does.

So youth rates are still not low enough for one business? A proper legal employment agreement is too much trouble?

What about the health and safety aspects? A very young man out on his own in his car delivering pizza to strangers' homes?

I hope the book is thrown at whoever is responsible. I will not be holding my breath.
