What a jolly good idea. C&P

"Karl Albrecht, who died last month at the age of 88, penned the obituary himself in the style of a moving notice, inviting friends to a "lively" celebration at his new lodgings in a cemetery in Hamburg, northern Germany.

"I have moved house. My new address: Olhsdorf-Ruhewald cemetery, plot Bx 65/28C," the announcement in the Hamburger Abendblatt paper said.

"I'll be pleased to have a lively attendance," it read.

Albrecht had left instructions for his family to place the notice in the paper, the national daily Bild reported.

The former insurance salesman had been a joker all his life and loved to laugh, his widow Anastasia told the newspaper.

"At the grave there'll be schnapps for all the guests. He would have wanted that," she said, adding he wanted the women to wear bright floral dresses.

"Nobody should turn up in black. My Karl could never stand gloominess," she said. "

Well regarding "Caring Relatives" I think you would find that both major parties would be against this when in power and for it when opposition. Just goes to show two things. 1. what hypocrites the lot of them are and 2. that the real power still rests with the back-room boys at the ministry and only rubber-stamped by the minister. Successive Governments have turned this down and keep telling us of the "Horrendous" costs. Funny, no problem paying forever to jet Ex PM's around the world though.

These payments should also extend to Grandparents that foster their grandchildren. If fostered to an outsider they are paid for. eek

I am interested in how the case for the $10M will turn out. On the one hand, we have seen a number of men receive sentences between home detention and a few years in gaol which will decrease considerably with parole. These involved many millions of dollars lost by investors. We know that the interest the investors made never really existed, or did it. Does a gambler receive back the kitty he began to play with when he loses it all at the casino?

So, where does this $10M dollar theft stand in the law. Should she get home detention, or a gaol term. Had the bank system been operating efficiently this mistake on its part would never have happened. The temptation was too great. Whatever the result, it is my bet that the Lombard crooks will have had a better deal. It is who you are that counts.

Have to agree with "It is who you are that counts." Joybel.
If you move in the upper circles in NZ then your penalty for any crime is much less than that of the poor who commit much lesser crimes.
People constantly bleat about anything perceived to be even mild racial prejudice or preference but constantly the rich & famous get treated with kid gloves when it comes to criminal offending. It is a far greater crime in NZ to be caught shoplifting than it is to steal peoples life savings.
Sure they should have returned the 10mil but they did not steal it. They simply were given it in error. To my way of thinking the people who salt away investors money in their personal trusts & grandiose lifestyles are much bigger criminals.
