has anyone (apart from JOHN) worked out how to play? I have gone to the page several times hoping instructions have been added but no joy so far

Hi Fauna, like you I couldn't fine the instructions, but if you click the help button there are some details. I am a puzzle fanatic but this one leaves me cold. Maybe it will get tweaked a bit to improve it.

I am the 'John' who has 'worked out how to play'. Not surprising really-I created Comblo (note - not Combloc). I have now removed my name from all my top scores. Over 350 people from the Grownups site have visited and 46 have registered as players and, between them, played over 280 games. The top player is now 'Ned' who has played 82 different games and has the top score in 45.

There are several ways of finding out how to play. One is to select a game and click on the 'Walkthru' button and then just 'Step' your way through the walkthrough to see how the best score was obtained. Or you can click the 'Help' button for brief instructions. Or select 'FAQ' from the main menu and you can see how a score is calculated and see a sequence of images showing the score calculation.

Comblo deserves a bit of effort. There are six new games every day plus at least 144 numbered games which you can replay. Register and you get another 24. Tell people about the game and you get even more new games to play. I have played Comblo every day for at least a year and I never get tired of it. And I try every puzzle game I can find.

Having spent the last few weeks trying to master Comblo, I'm now happy to say that I think it's just marvellous and once you figure out the formula, it's lots of fun. You definitely need to use the 'walkthrough' and 'step' buttons to begin with to figure out how the game works, but after you've done that a few times you can see what you're supposed to be achieving and it's great from thereon in. I'm now totally addicted and play it for a few hours every day. It does take a bit of effort as John says to get to grips with it to start with, but it's so worthwhile when you do. Thanks so much for such a great game John.
