Sounds like runner beans. We planted broad beans, runner beans and french beans one year and the bees got confused. Had french beans with mottled pods, runner beans with fat beans in them and broad beans with hairy pods. They all tasted ok but there were sure some funny loking beans.

so they are very sensitive OKK..lol..what confusion.
I was just surprised that the green pods were horrid though.
Maybe they were the broad bean pods with the red seed in them by mistake. Thanks for that.

I planted some nice purple beans, I thought the colour would look pretty cool on the plate. First time I cooked them, I took off the lid of the pot, and found only boring green ones. Question?? wher'd the purple ones go, and whos been messing with my beans. Hey!! but they tasted OK. Cant help you with your beans, but have had a pumpkin that had 3 different looking pumpkins on it, dont know where my bees had been, perhaps they had beans at your place.

a nurse at work is nonplussed as she planted "green beans" and found that the pods were inedible, tasting absolutely horrid, and the been seeds were a red colour and tasted lovely raw.
So what happened there? were they named wrongly in the garden shops, as many varieties are? Or do some of us not understand the term "green bean"
