I'm a muso, been playing in bands since 1961 (then aged 13). I'm mainly a bassist, but also play keys and guitar and sing as well. I currently live in Taupo, which is a musical backwater for my style of '50s-'70s stuff, although there is country scene of sorts here.

I'll be moving on to another town next year and have no idea where at this point, although back to the 'naki is looking promising. I haven't gigged for 16 months and I'm suffering withdrawals big time. Luckily I have a jam in Waitara this weekend to help with the withdrawal stuff. smile

Had the jam and enjoyed the music and the people, although I was hoping to open my amp up & let it breathe, but alas, still haven't got it over 1/10.. sad
Still 6 hours of playing beats not playing, although my fretting hand locked up at one point and I had to flag a lead break. Damn getting old!!

Hi, have just joined up on this site and discovered this thread. I am a hand drummer and percussionist, play in a couple of bands here in Auckland - Latin and African influence - but enjoy a wide variety of genre. I love jamming with other musicians and enjoy a day out at festivals listening to lots of different sounds. I also work as a music therapist, anyone who plays music will understand the wonderful benefits that creating music brings. Food for the soul.cool
Would like to make contact with other musos.

Hi there, sometime since i posted but good to see more people getting on board. I havent done much in the last few years just a couple of concerts.I was asked to do a tribute to Jimmy Rogers a 3o's country singer who did a lot of blues.I have got right into his music and enjoy it.Theres something about this old stuff that brings you back to it.
I have just ordered Band in a Box and am going to get back into some home recording for a hobby.I have used it before and it is a very simple way of putting down backing tracks to play and sing to.
Keep up out there.

Hi Fellow Music-makers. I am a "mature" musician based in Auckland, Bass is my instrument of choice, and I am wondering where all the musicians of my generation go when they go?
I know for a few people of my vintage; 'music is in the blood' so its not a thing one just drops altogether. The people I have in mind here are (like me) always ready to pick-up a guitar or to join in an impromptu jam and just do the music because its such a buzz.
Anyhow I was doing just that a couple of nights ago with the band I use to play with a while back, and the experience was bloody terrible. To loud, to out of sync, to many beers, and to damn ruckus.
I guess with maturity comes a desire for a little refinement in the sound being produced-at least thats what I was looking for-sadly it was not forthcoming. I shouldnt be to hard on the guys (it is rock we play at the end of the day) but I am also the song-writer for this group and my latest effort is a ballady type song which the guys just completely killed; (all the women Ive played it to absolutely love it).
So my Question here is, would there be a 'mature' piano player out there some-where who would maybe like to have a try at producing it ??? (Ideally I always intended the tune to be played by a Lionel Richie/Carol King type player). Cheers.
P;S Rhythm maker thanks for the post-I have replied.
PPS I am also looking to put a Band together playing stuff like The Doobie Bros, Eagles, Maroon 5, etc (BVs an advantage) there are gigs available for that musical genre.

Hi y'all. I'm a 63 y/o bassist and guitarist with some vocals, looking for people to jam with or play out, whatever - in the Manawatu/Horowhenua regions. These days, I prefer country and rock'n'roll/oldies etc. If you'd like to have a get together, I'm always up for it. If you know of a band needing a bass or lead guitar, I'm up for that too. I have great gear.

I have had a guitar since I went to sea at 16, I mainly just "noodle" out some tunes, never played with anyone else, I think it would be great fun to Jam with other musos, I love country, Irish, folk music, slow ballards and love songs. Have put 2 videos of me singing two songs I wrote on Youtube, mrsailordan24 is my id there, would love some feedback on the lyrics, the video and singing isn't great but I am trying to write songs now and would appreciate feedback on my lyrics. Gentle feedback thank you, Ha! Ha!
