Hello Everyone.
Looking to make contact with anyone with an interest in building and or running model trains, to form a loose group on this site.
Regards

Hi Russell I have an interest in trains and have built about 3 layouts the latest is 'n' scale and has been negelected lately because of other interests but wouldnt take too much to get up and running again it took up most of a 10ft square shed.when I started it was with HO and I still have the 'black widdow' which was my first engine

Hullo Russell. I have an interest in model railway but at the moment I don't have a layout. We have recently shifted into a town house and don't have much space. But I am working on the problem. I have a reasonable collection of HO (American). The first loco I bought was a NYC Niagara smoke and all. I still have it.

Greetings All.
Yep I'm one too. Just building a model of Robin Hoods Bay station (UK - Scarborough to Whitby railway) approx 5mx3m. Running about 12 locos and numerous wagons/coaches. Storage sidings fed by a traverser of my own design. Scenics under way at present and also building a number of wagon/coach kits.
Interested to hear from likeminded "nuts"
Cheers
Richard

Hello again everyone,
Well, Easter saw over 250 railway modellers gather in Napier for the biannual model railway convention. What a great time we had. Lots and lots of fine railway modelling and over 70 competition entries. The photos will soon be up on the New Zealand Association of Model Railway Clubs' website. Have a look at www.nzamrc.org.nz Please be patient as it will probably take a couple of days for our webmaster to post them.
Happy modelling,
Russell

I made some comments some time ago but, for some unknown reason, they have not appeared on the site. Who knows why ?? I don't. While I have never had a layout of my own, I have actively participated in the construction and operation of a couple of larger ones. The first was the South Australian Railway Modellers' Association layout which was in one of the South Australian Railway's Institute buildings behind the Adelaide Railway Station. This was a HO set-up of somewhat size-able proportions. To the best of my knowledge, this area has all been cleared of buildings and I have no idea what happened to the layout. Perhaps I should mention that I was involved in the construction of the layout in the mid-, to late- 1950's. I left Adelaide in 1965 and subsequently lost contact with the Members of that Organisation. Perhaps someone in this Forum may know a bit more about it ??

Hi Ronald.
I see from your profile that you are in Christchurch. You may be interested to know that the next - 2010 - National Model Railway Convention will be held at Easter in Christchurch. Go to www.nzamrc.org.nz for info.

Greetings, Russell. Thank you for that information which I shall bear in mind. You may be interested to know that I was, mumble-mumble years ago (around the same time as in my previous post), involved quite heavily with an outdoor, clockwork-operated O-gauge line, also in Adelaide. Now, if I can figure out how to lodge photographs on this site, I might be able to show some pikkies of the layouts. There were actually two such layouts involved, both of which for (the Owner's) Family and other problems, were never completed. The second one I was only tangentially involved with because that was about the time that I travelled to N.Z. (01.1965). Mind you, is a model railway EVER completed ?? Regards, Ron.
