Smiles_R_free, which one do you use, I googled virtual cross stitch and a whole lot came up. so not sure which one to use, could you put the link here please, Thanks smile

Also thanks for your kind words above, the jousting one was my first cross stitch and was done on linen, and was a great challenge alright, it wasn't till I had finished that I found out about aida cloth, but I am glad it worked out that way as I really like that piece smile

I also love my Afghan blanket with the old fashioned skaters on it, the ice has a sparkly thread in as well to create the look of ice smile

The Dovecote one was a nice fun one, my friend got some free flying doves from my neighbour so I thought I would make her the cross stitch smile

Looking forward to having a go with the Virtual Cross Stitch and seeing some of your pics smile

Only wish that GUPs had a 'preview post' function on here then I wouldn't have to delete so much.
I'm having probs. with the photobucket images to demionstrate how this looks, etc, etc....

I'm determined to prove to you all, that this is NO hoax and is a fabulous hobby, costs little and produces awesome results.
I had actually forgotten I'd started this thread way back and it was the cross stitch topic heading under hobbies that prompted my mind.
At the time I wrote the original post, I gave up with attempts to have pics. showing in my posts and it's not looking much better now.
Shall keep trying....

Just to give you an idea of what the results look like I'll try sharing some of the smaller pieces and photobucket might behave (fingers crossed)Here we go - some cute teddy bears enjoying summer at the beach.

Yay!! got things sussed at last.
Here's the rest I stitched in that series.

Did these earlier on in my 'virtual' x-stitch pixel days and have learned lots since then (ie.self invented and taught by just playing).

Many of my pieces are now on pixelled cloth and have nice x-stitched borders, instead of the std graphics backgrounds, etc

Anyways, that's a tiny sample of the results.
Your comments are welcome and if anyone would like to know more I'm happy to explain the principles / techniques used as simply as possible.
The basic idea is to make the pieces look as realistic as the traditional cross stitch would be , only using a pc, mouse and pixel painting graphics software ( I use photoimpact) .

Any questions, just fire away and I'll do my best to answer.
In the meantime - Happy Stitching...Smiles-R-Free smile

Hi smiles, these are great. I spent ages last night using a spreadsheet trying to make up my own pattern. What a nightmare it was, but I love the look of this virtual stuff. I'd love some details on the techniques you used.biggrin

Hi Smiles-R-Free. Wow! I love this work you're doing. Is there any way you can show us how it's done. I love using my computer for creativity and this looks really cool. Cheers Pixie
