Me and mine attended one of the fabulous Guinness sponsored concerts inthe Auckland town hall many years ago - Mary Black was the star attraction, but I was blown away by the perfromance of a lady named Delores Keane (old folkies may remember her as the vocalist for Planxty). I've been looking for a recording of hers ever since and having just googled the album you mention, Squirter, have discovered the divine Delores contributes a track to it. "Women of Ireland" is a definite addition to my 2007 Santa list - yes, I do know he only comes to good boys and girls - I have SO been good (if only coz I haven't the energy to be otherwise)

i have seen fabulous Irish singing in concert, but I also love the beery sounding pub songs and singers..the irish rovers..so happy sounding. the concert had about 5 Celtic lady singers and all were great but it's funny how one in particular will stand out as particularly great.

I just love irish music - my hubby reckons i was irish in a former life. I think most people love irish music though - there's just something about it that gets the toes a-tappin' and the hands a-clappin' lol

yep for sure Rosie. My fathers mother was pure Irish and heaps of people have it in their background somewhere.

Daniel O"Donnell is another great irish singer, comes to NZ about every 2yrs, He visited NZ not long ago, and had a concert at the Founders Theatre in Hamilton. Mary Duff, usually accompanys him on his tours, who also is a great Irish singer. A most enjoyable show, have been 4 times now, Has anybody else out there, been to one of his concerts??
