Changing the Union Jack has again come up for debate....I think it's even pleased Aunty Helen.

Who's for developing our own Identity and national flag....

Me , for one.

Cheers.

Red white and blue is a nice friendly mix, Squirter. I am not into harsh black, oranges, red and green. Maybe purple with lavender and lemon would be acceptable. So, I will be relying on you to come up with something along these mixes, please.

There was a picture of our flag with the Union Jack removed and the Southern Cross enlarged and the colours unchanged....looked OK to me.

Just love to stir Squirter but the Union Jack can only be called a Jack when on a ship otherwise its the Union Flag. Cheers, Bazza.

Hey Bazza, Did you watch the new aussie Navy TV program the other day? They were supposedly at sea and the a Jack flying.

By the way Squirter, when you going to change your name? Should be "Stirrer"!

Leave our B****y flag as it is, lots of people died defending it.

I agree with Bryan, my Dad fought under that flag, and he never said too much about that time, but he did say he was proud to have served, and the flag meant much all those who were in the services, not just them either, the flag was flown for welcoming the boys home, flown proudly whereever they served, lowed for those who had fallen.Lets keep it . cheers

This is where you and I change lanes.

If you want to live in the past and hang onto mother Englands coat tails then well and good....for me, that finished on the spot when they kicked us and Aussie into touch when they joined the EEC. They did not give a stuff considering about 20,000 kiwi's lost their lives fighting for that lot.

For me, NZ is now an all encompassing league of nations, and it's high time we started developing our own destiny.

Cheers.

As a member of the RSA and affiliated to the RNZRSA I am against any change to the national flag of NZ, until or unless we become a republic.

I'm also an RSA member and have been for donkeys years, and I do believe I've got a brain of my own, and do not rely, or want any organisation whatever it may be to make any decisions for me. I've made my own path in lifes journey.

When this issue first surfaced quite some many years ago now it was interesting to listen to the dinkum 'Vets' voice their opinion in the Papakura RSA....

Cheers.

How ever said I listen to others opinion? I would have thought with the comments here you would have worked out by now I make up my own mind (What there is of it)

I also don't like to have others tell me what to do or be pushed around.

Booklover....and G'day,

I ask the question.... did your dad ever voice an opinion after the England joined the EEC and kicked NZ and Aussie into touch....you see love, I've got 8 members of my family that never came back.

Cheers.

Are New Zealanders all that loyal to Mother England still. We never blindly rushed into war in Iraq on the tails of the British troops, nor tugged the forelock to Bush as did the Australian Govt. We now act independently for N.Z. and this is good that we slowly and bravely stand on our own beliefs. Oceania is our territory and we do our best to help when required as a peacekeeping nation instead of rushing into battle unwillingly. We will become a Republic one day and like all those countries which untied the apron strings from England we will develop a flag of our own. I may not be here to see it happen but NZ has been a loyal ally to England and that need not change. Whatever will be, will be.
