These are 10 useful trips for if you ever find yourself travelling around the same country – be it New Zealand or abroad.

• Shop around. Do not pay more than you have to for domestic travel.

• Check your flight in advance to verify the timing of departure as well as for Arrival. If you do not know the timing and your flight is delayed, you might be end up sitting in the airport for hours.

• Research travel insurance company is a choice for domestic travellers to find out what your insurance plan covers you for.

• If you are planning for a domestic travel trip with a Family and Relatives, call the airline in advance to see if you can choose your seats. Otherwise, you may have to sit separately from your Family members in a flight.

• The weather conditions may be quite different at your destination compared to the climate at your home place. So have a look at the last 7 days of weather conditions for your destination(s) and pack appropriately.

• Be attentive that you might get lost. Take appropriate precautions like a GPS or Local Map.

• Imagine that you are far away from your place & you lose your wallet or luggage. This can and does happen and the best thing to avoid disaster is to make photocopies of all your important documents.

• Making phone calls may be costly, even for domestic travellers. The best way to save funds is to use calling cards at a pay phone, or to upgrade your mobile plan with your mobile phone company temporarily (if possible – sometimes contracts can restrict this)

• Take books & magazines to read.
