Sweet and sour meatballs


  • 450g minced pork
  • salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • oil
  • 1 green capsicum
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 100 ml vinegar
  • 140 ml stock
  • pickles
  • 3 slices canned pineapple


Sweet-sour Sauce: Put the stock and capsicum into a  pan and simmer gently until capsicum is tender. Mix the level tablespoon of cornflour, the brown sugar, soy sauce and vinegar into the stock. Cook for 3 minutes. Cut the pineapple rings into small pieces and add to sauce.

Meatballs: Mix the salt with the minced pork and form into small balls the size of a walnut. Roll in cornflour and saute in pan with oil – about 5 minutes each side. Remove the meatballs to serving dish and pour the sweet and sour sauce over, Garnish with pickles.

Serve with rice.
