Homemade sour cream – from yoghurt

If you’re like me and hate having to buy a wee bit of one ingredient for a recipe when I can substitute it for another then you will love this. Greek yoghurt is a wonderful fridge staple and you can also make cream cheese from it as well.

A protein-rich substitute for sour cream with just a hint of lime.


  • ½ cup Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Combine the Greek yoghurt in a small mixing bowl with lime juice and vinegar

Stir until creamy and smooth. If you prefer a looser consistency, slowly add more vinegar by teaspoon

Add salt and pepper and stir

Serve over your favourite sour-cream lovin’ dish!
