Brainy bliss balls

These bliss balls are sugar-free and are the perfect pick me up for the mid-afternoon slump.

Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of vitamin E, magnesium and copper. While walnuts also contain vitamin E, folate, melatonin, omega3 fats, and antioxidants. In addtion dates are high in dietary fibre.

  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2 cups raw walnut halves
  • 1 cup dates soaked in water overnight then drained
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ cup water

Directions:

Combine all ingredients except for the water in a food processor and process. Add the water little by little until the mixture forms a dough. Add a little extra water if needed to ensure it is well combined.

Form the dough into medium-sized balls by rolling a portion between your palms.

Place the finished balls on a tray lined with waxed paper or in a container and chill for 30 minutes before serving with a dusting of cocoa powder.
