One of the fastest growing segments of the population in our country is the over 50 age-group. The baby boomers are maturing, and along with this “maturing” comes an increased interest in health and quality of life. These changes are more rapidly identified as we pass the big five-o, often because we begin to experience the symptomatic results of doing things incorrectly for an extended period of time.

Degenerative change does not suddenly begin, they occur every day of our lives, and some of us, with our smoking, drinking, toxic load, poor diets and sedentary lifestyles are supporting these changes full steam ahead! Others have learned to slow these changes down to some degree, and literally ‘stop the clock’. Being sick or in pain definitely limits your capacity to live and enjoy your retirement, regardless of how much money you have.

If you judge your health by symptoms or the lack of, then you are cheating yourself out of future good health. If you are not applying the right laws right now, then regardless of how you feel, you are promoting degenerative changes in your body and you will, sooner or later, experience the results.

So what can you do?

Are you stuck where you are? Do you believe you have gone too far already? NO! It is almost never too late to begin promoting good health, but only you can make that decision, and follow through with it. Obviously, we are all in different situations, both physically and financially, but at least we all can do something. The more you apply good health principles, the more you will benefit, and the faster you will experience those benefits. Good health is built much faster than it is lost.

Crisis Medicine is Not Wellness Care

Science and medicine have perfected the art of crisis management through drugs and surgery, however, is that the way you want to have to handle your health as you age?  Is that what YOU want to rely on for the quality of your life? Are you content in taking drugs for problems, and just accept the fact that you are growing old?

I'm sorry if you feel this way, it must be terrible if you feel you are a victim trapped in an ageing body. All too many people I have seen over the years feel like they are imprisoned in a body over which they have little or no control. Others I have seen, however, realise that they are the captain of their own ship, in complete control and determine the course of their journey by way of their healthy lifestyle and diet. Are you in control or controlled by way of outside influences like the opinions of well meaning friends, television advertising and trashy magazines? It is your life and the ocean is a large wide open place. Why be a timid fish trapped in the lagoon. Ships feel safe in a harbour, but that's not what ships were designed for.

Naturopathy can show you how to slow down the accelerated effects of ageing. We can't stop you from ageing, but there are many ways we can help you to minimise these degenerative changes. We can help you identify and treat your individual health risks, and the more you become informed on building good health, and distance yourself from degenerative processes in your lifestyle, the more you will notice benefits. The choice is yours entirely. The current medical paradigm is crisis care, but why live your life constantly trying to "avoid a crisis"?

Are you a boomer who is ready to accept ageing yet accept responsibility for your health by way of adopting a healthy diet and lifestyle?  My articles are aimed at those who are willing to take up this challenge.

Kind Regards,
