Dementia Today

The word DEMENTIA under a missing jigsaw puzzle pieceTwo in every three people in New Zealand are in some way affected by dementia – some are the 60,000 who live with the condition, others are family members, friends or carers.  By 2050 the number of people living with dementia in New Zealand is set to nearly triple, to 154,000.

A diagnosis of dementia opens up many questions, decisions and issues, both for the person affected and their families. These are often incredibly complex and emotive, so gathering information becomes paramount.

Caregivers need to know how to best support their loved one while maintaining balance, there may be decisions regarding specialist care, or how to give the person the best quality of life.
